The TomorrowMen are proud to offically announce our CD release party and show on June 18th at The Hotel Utah in San Francisco. It was a long time coming - the band has been together 5 years (give or take a few thousand) and we are incredibly excited that this CD is finally completed.
It's jam packed with lots of your favorite Tmen songs painstakingly produced and recorded in 4-D sound by Pollo Del Mar's Ferenc Dobronyi, who just happens to be playing at the show with us, along with our good friends Blammos!
This is a rare Saturday night show at The Hotel Utah, 21+ and $10 to get in. Hope to see you!
If this isn't reason enough to come, Lady Reverb and I are also celebrating our 25th anniversary! Don't buy us anything, just come on down and bring your friends and buy the brand new CD "It's About Time!
-Mycroft Eloi aka Danny Snyder

Dave Wronski (guitarist extraordinaire of surf monsters Slacktone and previously of the legendary Jon & The Nightriders) lays out the basic recipe over at Guitar World's blog in the informative entry entitled Deep Water: How to Get the Classic Surf Guitar Sound.

Original Beach Boys guitarist, David Marks, is partnering with the newly-formed Hawthorne Historical Society to promote that local 1960's guitar sound as a legitimate part of the city's history and culture.
David feels like the authenticity of their original guitar sound got lost a bit as the Beach Boys evolved into a more vocal-oriented band and he wants to get back to the original style and techniques they came up with as kids. This is his way of honoring his partner, Carl Wilson, and their first mentor John Walker's memory and it's the historical society's way to preserve their history, so its a great partnership.
As part of the "Good Neighbors Day" event on July 16th, David will be conducting a full-day guitar clinic in the Hawthorne High music room where he will demonstrate chord progressions, authentic rhythm techniques & lead figures as they were originally recorded. Participants are encouraged to bring their (unplugged) electric guitars to play along so they can get a better feel for the parts. Or, you can just observe. He will hit 3 areas: surf & car songs, ballads and instrumentals.
That evening, David and the Surf City All Stars will preform on the Hawthorne High football field at 7 pm. Tickets are going towards the establishment of the first Hawthorne Museum. David's goal to establish a permanent Surf Guitar program in Hawthorne.
Tickets are at: http://hawthornesurfmusic.eventbrite.com/ and clinic information and registration forms be found on: http://davidleemarks.com/
For the first time ever, playing a few selected shows in NorCal, Mike Barbwire, bandleader of infamous Swedish act The Barbwires will team up with San Francisco surf heroes THE DEADBEATS on the first week of July, 2011. This brand new cross-Atlantic collaboration goes under the name of Mike Barbwire with The Deadbeats, and what you can expect is older stuff, new stuff, and probably a few newly composed songs. How does it taste? Well take 1 oz Swedish stored ice-cold wild surf-guitar, add 4 cups of freshly harvested even wilder-sounding sun-drenched NorCal surf musicians, add some light and dark rum, falernum syrup, throw in a pinch of frenzy and a handful of joy for the art of surf music. How this exotic cocktail tastes can only be found out at any of these exclusive shows!
A brand new Mike Barbwire 45 rpm is to be released simultaneously with this tour. Here is a short teaser video:
The 45 was recorded in Sweden in May with The Blue Ocean Six featuring members from The Domestic Bumblebees, The Hives, The Dragtones, and Big Band Splash.

On May 14, KFJC presents The Fifth KFJC Battle of the Surf Bands. In keeping with the tradition of the legendary Surf Battles of the early 60s, bands are given 15 minutes to present their best material and show, making for a fast paced and exciting 4 hour event. The biggest change this year is a move from the beloved Hotel Utah in SF, to The British Bankers Club in Menlo Park. The BBC is a big, full service restaurant and will easily hold the expected crowd, and will allow minors. Menlo Park is also much closer to KFJC's home.
