So my friends, we are finally out with the info about the SJSF2011!
As you see the location has changed but in the end we are still in Livorno. This time at the port, a beautiful fortress right downtown. It is absolutely beautiful!
The place will hold a bit less people than last year, no more than 1100 people at the same time. But we will make it right. So if you are planning to come I highly recommend to PRE-BUY the tickets form the web site. The cost of the ticket is ridiculous.
On the web site you can find the line up. We have as usual great bands and many friends coming to play. It will be fun!
The festival will have an opening party the day before (Thursday 16th June) and an after party on Monday the 20th in Pisa with John Blair introducing his book and work to the bloody Italians!!!

What else? Merchandise will be available soon including the Bear Surfboards t-shirts especially customized for Surfer Joe. You remember the shirts you have seen in Big Wednesday; some of these will be for sale at the SG101 convention too in August.
I will post news and updates on the forum within the festival's thread.

Not THE editor, of course!
But as of April 18, I'll be the online managing editor at Guitar World magazine, which is based in the lovely and talented New York City.
Some of you might be familiar with the print edition of the magazine, which has been hard-rock-heavy for a while. But the new website -- the redesigned version of which will be launched in May or June -- will be very much open to all guitar genres. Including surf/instro!
So basically, a surf guitarist will be an editor at Guitar World magazine.
Just an FYI!
Thanks,
Damian Fanelli
P.S.: Mister Neutron / Asbury Lanes / Asbury Park, NJ / May 20!!!
Eddie Bertrand (Belairs, Eddie & The Showmen) performs "Lanky Bones" with the Eliminators backing up. This was taped live at the 1st SG101 Convention in 2008. Eddie Bertrand-lead guitar, Bill Swanson-saxaphone, John Benton-guitar, Joe Kurkowski-guitar, Frank Hughes-bass, Doug Harlow-drums. Sound recorded by Cr2O. Video courtesy of Tom Duncan and Sound of The Surf.
The Noble Gasses founder Josh Hickman will release a new solo CD in early May 2011 entitled "A Handful Of Love." So far, reviews have been good!:
"A masterpiece..."
- Christian Schumann
"The best album of '11..."
- Eric Gardner (of Gnarls Barkley, Charlotte Gainsbourg, etc.)
Stay tuned for CD release party & performance!
Aloha Screwdriver's debut CD is out and available through their online store, or as a download through iTunes and Amazon.
No Way Out, is an absurdly analog 8-song EP recorded live to tape with no edits, no overdubs, and no room for mistakes. No one records music this way anymore, and for good reason--it's a pain in the ass. The end result sounds as unique as the band--reverb-drenched surf rock played at a blistering speed.
Full song track previews, videos and photos are available on the Aloha Screwdriver's Facebook page.
The TomorrowMen and Sean Berry, of Double Crown Records, are pleased to announce that we've entered into an agreement for our upcoming album, "It's About Time!", will be Double Crown's newest release! We've almost finished mixing the songs and are hoping to have the discs in our hands before the KFJC SF Bay Area Battle of the Surf Bands this May 14. We are extremely proud to be on a label that includes so many incredible bands, including two of my favorites The Madeira and The Kilaueas. The album is produced by Ferenc Dobronyi and he's done an amazing job. Stay tuned for more news as we get closer to release date.

The Lava Pups debut CD "Into The Flow" featuring 8 original tunes and SG101ers Paul The Pyronaut on rhythm guitar and JetBlue on bass is now available!
The Lava Pups is a collaborative effort created out of our love for surf and rock instrumental music and desire to have fun. Our debut CD shows the influences of Dick Dale, Link Wray, Duane Eddy and Paul Johnson. The songs range from in-your-face double-picked, glissando-ladened garage surf like "Sea Witch" to the sweetly dissonant ballad "Pacifica Blue."
The schedule for the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum 2011 Surfin' Sundays concert series has just been announced.
All events will take place either at the HBISM Parking lot (411 Olive Ave), or at the Pier Plaza (315 PCH). The bands and schedule are subject to change, so please check our website for updates.
Victor Vector, aka Jonny Shamen, came down with a severe case of pneumonia right after the Man or Astro-Man? tour wrapped up. He's been in the hospital for over a week now. As with most working musicians, he has no health insurance. In addition, he has a wife and young child. His family could really use some help. Please take a moment and send a few bucks his way. Thank you!
