'Legends of Surf Music' concert to premiere in Vista Calif. on October 25

'Legends of Surf Music' concert to premiere in Vista Calif. on October 25, 2014 at the Moonlight Amphitheatre.

Stars and Stripes Events, a concert production company located in Escondido, Calif., is promoting a surf rock concert with former members of eight of the best known famous surf rock bands of the sixties. The promoter will donate 10 percent of ticket sales directly to Wounded Warrior Homes also located in Vista Calif. The concert is at the Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista on October 25.

The concert line-up of performers will include former members of the Hondells, Castells, Marketts and the Routers; all performing for the first time in 50 years with several original members.

Also performing are former and original members of the Beach Boys, Surfaris, Jan & Dean, Chantays, Belairs and Dick Dale & the Del Tones.

These surf bands are attributed with such songs as "Surfin USA," "Wipeout," "Little Deuce Coupe," "Little Honda," "Surfer Joe," "Pipeline," "Out of Limits," "Misirlou," "Let's Go Trippin," "Little Old Lady From Pasadena," "Dead Mans' Curve," "Mr. Moto," and dozens more.

John Jerd, the President of Stars and Stripes Events, said, "This concert will make music history because the audience hasn't seen some of these groups in decades, and never all these famous band members in one concert."

The "Legends of Surf Music" concert will be held at the Moonlight Amphitheatre at 1200 Vale Terrace Drive Vista, CA 92084, on October 25, 2014.

Stars and Stripes Events, and Jerd & DiMaggio Productions of Escondido California, headed up by John Jerd, produce and promote concerts primarily for 501(c)3 non-profit organizations; especially where the non-profit serves our military heroes.

Complete information can be viewed at http://StarsAndStripesEvents.com and tickets can be purchased at http://www.VisTixOnline.com - or by calling the box office Monday through Friday 12 noon to 5 p.m. at 760-724-2110.

Dick Dodd Passes Away at Age 68

Dick Dodd, former Mouseketeer, drummer for the Belairs, Eddie & The Showmen, and later the garage band The Standells ("Dirty Water"), has passed away at age 68. It was only recently announced that Dick had stage four cancer, and a GoFundeMe support page was created.

Today, his attorney, Peggi Collins wrote on the support page:

It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that Dickie lost his battle last night. He had contracted pneumonia and just wasn't strong enough to fight it. Please remember him in your prayers and consider adding to this fund which his family desperately needs to offset the great expense of his illness.

If you can afford it, please consider contributing to the fund to help Dick's family with their expenses.

In recent years Dick was active in the surf music scene, appearing and performing at various events, notably a benefit for guitarist Eddie Bertrand. Please join SurfGuitar101 in thanking Dick Dodd for his amazing contributions to surf music.
