Surf music band fueled with a trashy garage sound from dirty south Belgium. Born in april 2009 on the ashes of a dying punkrock scene. High tempo beat, luchadors, sexy dancers and reverb to the max. Hell yeah!

The Hula Girls formed in 2008 and have been busy playing their self-described ‘hulabilly’ music all over Southern California. It’s up-tempo hapa haole, tiki, and surf themed music, all filtered through the late 1950’s and early 60’s rockabilly and rock n’ roll sound!
The Hula Girls are Spike Marble on guitar and lead vocals, Shorty Poole on upright and electric basses, Gary Brandin on steel guitar, and Doug Sanborn on drums! They are always accompanied by their hula-a-go-go dancers, Miss Haylee Holiday, Miss Ginger Watson, and Miss Veronica Velvet!
The Hula Girls have played along side such modern rockabilly and surf legends as Dick Dale, The Ventures, Duane Eddie, X, The Knitters, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, The Stray Cats' Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom, Dave Alvin, Southern Culture on the Skids, Los Straitjackets, Wayne the Train Hancock, and Hot Rod Lincoln, among many others.
Just when you thought tiki music had to be sleepy instrumental tunes, here come The Hula Girls! Their second album will be out, just in time for the Hukilau!

"What is a LuxuriaMusic?
By all accounts, it’s a small but feisty Internet-only radio station that provides a growing international listenership with a fresh alternative to the rapidly depleting appeal of terrestrial and satellite radio.
LuxuriaMusic is among the pioneers of Internet radio. What the listener hears upon tuning into LuxuriaMusic (luxuriamusic.com) is a meticulously curated mixture of musical genres that make up the station’s eclectic alchemy. Since its inception in 2000, LuxuriaMusic’s earliest and most avid adopters have been people who possess a high level of pop-culture consciousness, especially about ’50s-through ’70s music and entertainment. Such folks also form the basis of the station’s air staff: a diverse, super-knowledgeable group of music enthusiasts and professionals who curate the various genres that comprise LuxuriaMusic’s eclectic alchemy.
Surf Music, Bossa Nova, Exotica, Space-Age Bachelor Pad, Jazz, Soft-Psych, Sunshine Pop, Wall of Sound, Latin, Go-Go, and Film & TV music of the past 50 years are expertly distilled and blended in order to concoct the “highly intoxicating and sometimes hallucinatory” LuxuriaMusic Sound. Somehow, in this context, it all makes sense.
Like who and what?
Like Chuck Kelley, music consultant for Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. Like Rhino Records A&R director Andrew Sandoval; reissue producer Sheryl Farber; film scorer Ron Sures; in-demand DJs Dougee Dimensional, Strike,Il Facile Duo (Italy), Switched On Audrey, and Agent Kari; writer-pop historian Gene Sculatti.
And musicians: Intoxica host Howie Pyro, who’s recorded and written songs with Joey Ramone, Ronnie Spector and Rancid; ’60s hitmaker Ian Whitcomb (“You Turn Me On”), Derrick Bostrom (Meat Puppets), Kristian Hoffman (Mumps, Klaus Nomi), The Millionaire (Combustible Edison), David Ponak (the Mellow Cads) and Jim Laspesa, who’s worked with Ray Davies, the Muffs and Green Jello.
They are just some of the side-spinners doing their thing at LuxuriaMusic’s studios. And their listeners aren’t just getting the sounds of surf, spaghetti, psyche and sexploitation. They’re also regularly treated to interviews and stop-by’s from such luminaries as Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, Jackie DeShannon, Kim Fowley, Keely Smith, Lalo Schifrin, El Vez and Kid Congo Powers.
