Biography (From above site)

"Susan and the Surftones is an American surf instrumental band. The band is considered part of the “third wave” of surf-revivalist bands that formed in the 1990s. The band was started in 1993 in Rochester, NY by lead guitarist Susan L. Yasinski, one of very few female lead guitarists in instrumental surf music. Influenced also by early Elvis and the Beatles, 1960s garage and 1970s punk music, their sound incorporates traditional surf with elements associated with these other genres, such as the use of the combo-organ. The band’s first recording deal was with Gee-Dee Records in Hamburg, Germany who released their first CD, WIthout A Word, in 1995. Subsequent releases on Gee-Dee and two other European labels, Surf Waves (Belgium) and OmOm (Italy), and four European tours, earned them a fan base in Europe as well as the US. Susan relocated to the west coast in 2000, and reformed the band in Portland, Oregon. They continued to release albums both on CD and as digital releases.
Nissan (Italy) used two of their tunes, their cover of Ghost Riders in the Sky and Moon Woman ‘42, in a promotional DVD in 2005. They performed a showcase at the ROCKRGRL Music Conference in Seattle in 2005 and have played halftime shows for the NBA Portland Trail Blazers. In 2007 two of their original tunes (Tiki Kiki and The Blue Hammer) were used in MTV’s The Real World: Sydney. In addition to thirteen full-length album releases and a vinyl EP, Susan & The SurfTones appear on compilation albums released in the US, Italy, Australia, Russia, Korea and Germany. Their recordings have received airplay on numerous radio stations in the US and abroad.
In 2011, Susan recorded her first solo album, Shore, as Susan SurfTone, with producer Steve Kravac. It was released in October, 2011. Critically acclaimed, Shore followed on critical listening and appreciation of such classic greats as The Doors.[1]
Susan has followed the success of Shore with the release of four more albums as Susan SurfTone, also produced by Steve Kravac, Too Far in 2013, a six-song EP, Reckoning, in 2014, a seven-song EP, Blue Light at Midnight in 2015 and a six-song EP The Magician in 2016. 2016 saw Susan release her first vocal track, the single Little Bit Lied To as well as other single releases, ShadowLand and Blue Moon of Kentucky (also with vocals), all from The Magician. Two more vocal singles, the original Up Down And All Around and a cover of Elvis Presley's A Mess of Blues were released in late 2016. 2017 has seen the release of a seven-song EP, Making Waves Again."

Kerry & The Surftones

https://www.sonicbids.com/band/kerryandthesurftones/

Biography (From above link)

THE SURFTONES formed in 1980 and became Southern California's original, and most authentic 60's band. KERRY CHESTER and RICK LINDLEY were playing in Hollywood in the 'THE DOLPHINS' doing all original tunes and chasing a major record deal. THE DOLPHINS were one of the "house bands" at The Whisky A Go-Go and The Starwood, and played those clubs and others like The Troubador on a weekly basis, opening for acts like 'Motley Crue', 'Quiet Riot' and other headliners during the late 70's.
We were performing a song on stage called "Eddie & The Surftones" that we had written about a local Surf Band making good, and then one day....... we became that band! The name was loosely based on the 60's Surf Band 'Dave Meyers & the Surftones'. A year later we dropped Eddie from the name and became 'THE SURFTONES', the band you know and love today. Since a crop of "new" bands have popped up recently using the Surftone name, The Tones decided to change their name to 'KERRY & THE SURFTONES' so their fans & clients would know they are getting the "Real" SURFTONES. -

  • Some of the songs you might hear at a KERRY & THE SURFTONES show...Surfin' USA, In My Room, Dead Man's Curve, Surfer Girl, I Get Around, Little Duece Coup, Miserlou, Wipe Out, Surfer Joe, California Girls, 409, Fun Fun Fun, Good Vibrations, Help me Rhonda, Pipeline, Walk Don't Run, Sidewalk Surfin', Surf City, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Apache, Secret Agent Man, Sail On Sailor, Barbara Ann, Surfin' Safari, Surfin', Surf Beat, Let's Go Trippin', Little Honda, California Sun, Don't Worry Baby & many many more.

Surftones (Jyvaskyla, Finland)

https://www.facebook.com/thesurftones

Biography (From Facebook page)

The Surftones is a five-piece instrumental ensemble from Jyväskylä. The band has been grooving since 1996. Their musical style has altered during the years from original garagesurf towards very different moods and today the best way to describe their music is to understand the following terms, which might be unknown for the majority:

Kinky & Funky
Disco Hot-Wax
Ultra Lounge
PP (Pulsating Progressive)

If the abovementioned didn't make any sense, it might be wise to check out the more conventional musical terms like funk, disco, lounge and progressive rock. The Surftones combines these styles with good (and bad) taste, but always with twinkle in the eye and with good results.

Confused Not sure about this one, seems to be a lot of Surftones out there, so if anyone knows let me know Argh about 4 bands with Surftones in the name starting in the 60's

The Funicellos (Sacramento - California, USA)

https://www.facebook.com/TheFunicellos

https://myspace.com/funicellos

https://www.sacramento365.com/event/the-funicellos/

Biography (From above link)

The Funicellos are a trio of three musically-united brothers who have taken their names in honor of that venerable surf couple, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello who, at least in the movies, lived ocean life to the fullest. Decades of musical experience have coalesced into a unique combination of surf, rockabilly (or “surfabilly”), Latin, Zydeco and some popular favorites thrown in for a flavor enjoyable at any social occasion inspired by southern latitudes.

Biography (From Facebook page)

On a balmy evening, with subtropic breezes gliding across faces of friends and neigh-bors at a bistro nestled along a palm-lined street somewhere between St George and Puerto Vallarta, white blazers and straw fedoras rest on bamboo wall pegs and fishing boats coast in at day’s end. A festive scene builds as the sun sets over the constant murmur of a wave-washed, white-sanded beach…..

While your particular event may not have such a backdrop, such is the feeling under the sonic experience of the Funicellos. These are a trio of three musically-united brothers who have taken their names in honor of that venerable surf couple, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello who, at least in the movies, lived ocean life to the fullest. Decades of musical experience have coalesced into a unique combination of surf, rockabilly (or “surfabilly” as we like to call it), Latin, Zydeco and some popular favorites thrown in for a flavor enjoyable at any social occasion inspired by southern latitudes.

So whatever celebration you are planning, it’s an immediate luau with the Funicellos on deck to give that rhythmic, reverberated, wave-washed feel to bring your guests to sun-ny beaches and subtropic shores.
