The 427’s (Calgary-AB, Canada)

https://www.facebook.com/The427s/

https://the427s.bandcamp.com/album/surf-noir

Biography (From Facebook page)

Born out of a shared love of surf culture, tattoos, motorcycles, and hot rods, Rob Day and Chris van Keir created The 427’s as a throwback to days spent at the beach and nights spent on the strip. Formed in 2013 and influenced by early '60s surf music, spaghetti westerns, and film noir, The 427’s released their debut EP, “Surf Noir” in 2014, which was nominated for “Instrumental Recording of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards. After having their music featured in mountain biking, snowboarding, and surfing documentaries, the band self-released their debut full-length, “Mavericks”, which spent seven weeks on the !earshot National Top 50 charts, including two weeks in the Top 20. In 2016, in continuing to expand their sound and vision, they brought bassist Eve Hell and drummer Wrayne Ramone into the fold and won a local award for best live show. After providing the soundtrack to a Maclean's magazine feature on river-surfing and spending much of late-2017 writing, the band entered Public Lunch Studios during the winter of 2018 to record their follow-up. "Stay Gold", which was mixed by Dallas Good of The Sadies, was released on June 1, 2018, and has now spent another seven weeks on the !earshot National Top 50 charts, including two more weeks in the Top 20. As Slams Reviews states, "It's smart and sexy surf that will definitely colour you impressed. Highly recommended."

Dave & The Pussies (Fieberbrunn-Austria)

https://www.facebook.com/Dave-The-Pussies-6630463830/

Three men – a force of nature.
Dave & The Pussies stand for instrumental surfrock at the highest energy level.
Mastermind David Obwaller sends crystal clear sparkling guitar runs through the vintage amplifier, his brother Luke letting the drums roll and thunder like breakers in Waikiki Beach – and the super-taut bass of Mex "Dr. Dub" Wieshofer doesn't make prisoners anyway.

What does that sound like? More agile than mercury, more precise than clockwork, tighter than a chain shirt.
And as refreshing as the fresh snow in the Tyrolean mountains where Dave & The Pussies come from.
This is music for the film in mind: Somewhere between swashbuckling gangster flick, heat-heavy spaghetti westerns and chilly film noir, seasoned with a dash of oriental mysticism.

Biography (From Facebook page) Translated form French

The chemist & the Acevities is four members from popular scientific backgrounds who have been developing experimental protocols between surf and garage since 2012. After encounters differentiated around subjects as diverse as biology, chemistry and sociology, Dijon and Paris are connected by the fusion energy and emancicipatory that emits this self-claimed group of anarcho-surf.
Ben carbon assures the singing in six electric cords, hydro Jim axe the rhythm, ascorbic thumb plays deep bass lines and Béberyllium makes surfing all over deafening rollers.
After repeated experiments on a variety of music-related subjects, the hearing manipulation is pressed in vinyl after a recording at Lucas trouble in January 2013. Published by Maloka and Acratos of the self-managed, independent and revolted scene, the 500 copies of this instrumental manifesto are scattered in the population to flourish in their own lives.

Biography (From Facebook page)

Pointbreak was conceived somewhere in the strange corridors of Stefano’s brain in Dublin, in the autumn of 2014. A brand new Surf Rock group paddled out into the world and took the drop.
Now, the questions are: Why Surf Rock? And what the hell is this sound?
Surf Rock is basically instrumental Rock’n’Roll - electric guitars drenched in reverb, cranked through valve amps, with a distinctive beat that has gotten people moving since the 50’s. Think Dick Dale, The Ventures and Link Wray. You know it, you just might not know that you know it. The focal instrument really is guitar, and that’s where the inimitable Stefano comes in. Once Gavan came on board on drums, things began moving. Adding Pablo on sax and theremin and Mark on bass, and Pointbreak really started cooking.
After the band was formed, the first gig came a few months later at the Dublin Rock’n‘Roll Festival. People seemed to enjoy that twanging sound, reminiscent of Tarantino and Sergio Leone’s movies. This was only another confirmation that playing surf rock was actually a brilliant idea.

After that, the band was eager to play that music for as much people as possible and they did. Fibber Magees became their second home and they’ve headlined at Whelan's, Sin É, Gypsy Rose, Sweeney's. How can you resist THE beat after all?!
It didn’t take long until Pointbreak started writing their own songs and re-arranging some famous tunes as their own. All this material has shaped out as an EP, “Get Wet!”, already available on all major platforms.
What about Pointbreak shows? Their live show is a raucous blend of soaking wet, twangy Fender guitars, screaming sax and a pulsating rhythm on the drums that will have everybody up and dancing. The setlist is a mix of classic surf rock tunes from the ‘60s (Walk don’t run, Surf Rider, Miserlou, Mr Moto, Wipe Out), more contemporary surf tunes (music from Jon & The Nightrider, Satan’s Pilgrim), original tunes and a bit of nonsense (Theme from The Munsters TV Show, Tetris, Superhero meadley and so on). One thing is definite: you’ll never get bored watching these guys playing live!
