Black Valley Moon just released a new ep on all major streaming platforms. It’s called ‘It Makes Magick’, and features a cover of White Wedding. The brand new video for White Wedding can be seen, here.
This will be our 14TH such gathering honoring the legacy of "the biggest selling & most popular band in the history of recorded music!"
The (12) hour event (9 AM- 9PM) features all-day music, special guests, memorabilia & sale tables, a silent auction & a dinner buffet!
For the past several years, THE WILSON & BOGLE FAMILIES, longtime business manager FIONA TAYLOR & BOB SHADE of Hallmark Guitars have graced us with their presence. This year THE VENTURES themselves hope to tie in a fest appearance with several lined-up gigs nearby!
Co-founder DON WILSON sadly passed away in January of last year & we honored his own legacy last year at the fest with a 'Don Wilson Remembered' theme. In previous years- we did the same for legendary guitarists' Nokie Edwards & Gerry McGee. Don's son TIM will be onboard this year as a co-cordinator of the event & together we've chosen the theme:
THE VENTURES FOREVER!
In the months ahead- Tim will be reaching out to those musicians who were an 'integral' part of The Ventures legacy over the years: JOHN DURRILL, JOE BARILE, GEORGE BABBITT, HARVEY WICKLAND & DEKE DICKERSON to name a few with invites to what we hope turns into 'our gandest fest ever!'
Its early yet in regards to setting an 'exact' cover charge for the fest this year! We'll be in the process of gauging interest over the next few months but be advised that we're usually in the $70-$80 range for the day which includes breakfast, lunch & dinner!
Every year- for those unable to attend- we offer post fest pkgs, that can include the 'commemorative T-shirt & program &/or DVD SETS capturing all the festivities. Items are priced separately & $$$ totals count toward expenses! We encourage support in some form if you opt out of attending!
Our ID CARD for this year is attached (front & back). Contact info is included to clarify info within or to inquire about any of the fest goodies
available as a 'form of support!'
The Desolate Coast is very excited to announce that our new single, Dracutela is available now on all platforms including a new music video!
What we're most excited to announce is that it is part of our next album, Without A Planet. Between having babies, Pro Tools cloud server issues, work, shows, and everything else, it has taken a little longer to get the finishing touches done on this album. Dave Klein did excellent work mastering, and we are pleased to be able to share it with you all.
We are also grateful to be partnering with Double Crown Records on its CD release on May 16. It will of course be available on streaming and download platforms at that time as well. We hope to add vinyl to the offerings in the future.
We really appreciate all the support and encouragement that we have received from many of you and really hope that you enjoy our new single, and soon, our new album.
We will have a couple more singles and videos to share between now and May 16, too!

New album of 16 energizing surf adventures "Insane Knot Tie Soars" by Insanitizers.
The melody guitar uses echoes and reverbs without distortion or overdrive.

Some tracks are:
Track 1 Bold Renegade. This song envisions a horse-riding hero wielding sword and whip. Reflecting its title, it starts and ends with triple slashes. During the bridge are guitar whiplashes you may need headphones to hear. Speedy times.
Track 2 Dazzled. Funky surf. Part of the lead is with a growling bass twangy bass.
Track 3 Twang Shake. The entire lead is played on one twangy guitar.
Track 6 The Lost Rescue. New version of our most listened-to recording on streaming platforms.
Track 7 Dance Like a Robot. Up-and-down glissandos.
Track 8 A Day in Tokyo. Inspired by Yazora No Hoshi but different.
Track 9 A Night in Vienna. Sequential complementary polka, march, and surf themes.
Track 10 The Space Force. Three different melody tones follow military percussion.
Track 11 Jaws on Bald Mountain. Across the mountain, tied onto the back of a horse, at midnight, defenseless.
Track 12 Love in Purgatory. Harpsichord lead then echoey guitar.
Track 16 Waterboard. Beyond sanity. Splashy menace alternates with surf theme. Hold your breath...
CONTINENTAL MAGAZINE #34 WITH 28-SONG CD
Issue #34 will be here on February 17th! The latest issue of The Continental Magazine features a gorgeous full-color cover designed by Scott Sugiuchi (he did the CD art too!). His travel-inspired illustration work fits perfectly with the bands featured in this issue. Australian legends The Atlantics are back with a brand new album, Still Making Waves, so it was the perfect time for Ivan Pongracic to interview guitarist Jim Skiathitis to talk about the writing and recording process. Next we fly to the sunny shores of California, where Ferenc Dobronyi talks to Jim Bacchi of The Tikiyaki Orchestra about their brand new album, Tropika. Mel Bergman is also back with an article discussing the Beach Boys and Ventures role as surf bands. PLUS there's tons of music, zine and DVD reviews. 44 pages in all - another HUGE issue! You also get a FREE 28-song CD filled with lots of great surf, instro and garage rock tunes!!!
We will have an ordering link for the magazine in next week's e-newsletter. However, you can sign up for a 3-issue subscription, starting with issue #34, thru the link below.
If you are a current subscriber, and are unsure of your subscription status, send us an email at: records@dblcrown.com
