Los Venturas On Tour & New Release: Playtime!

image

After 18 years of playing, Los Venturas have marked their spot in the international scene of instrumental guitar music called ‘surf music’. That label however is too small for what the band brings its crowd: there’s exotica, balkan, ska, soul, rock ‘n roll, … Some have already uniquely labelled it ‘world surf music’. The band itself rather sticks with ‘penetrating guitar instrumentals™’. This unique fusion of styles has been approved by many crowds in Europe and over the Atlantic. Not to be surprised, as their accessible music guarantees good vibes. On top their many years of experience can be heard as a flawless live performance. In short, they know how to throw a party, in diverse settings and different stages, going from clubs to festivals, inland or at the seashore.

Their many years of writing music can be heard on 7 albums/singles that were released from 2001 on: Sharkfest, Aloha Summer, Surfers Brew, Besame Mucho, Kaleydoskop, Paisley Beach & Miles High. The last 3 albums were recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Pete Curry (Los Straitjackets, Jon & The Nightriders) and released under Green Cookie Records. This fall Green Cookie records and Los Venturas proudly present their 4th cooperation: “Playtime!”. Unlike the previous albums, this one is 100% made in Belgium: recorded at Nico Leonard’s Pum Pum Hotel in Charleroi, mixed at Great Oak Studios by Steven Van Gelder and produced by Sam Pieter Janssens.

Playtime! features 11 originals, each of them a world on its own thanks to the use of multiple instruments, techniques and the added value of some top notch guest appearances. It comes in white vinyl and CD. The first 100 LP’s come with an extra 7” featuring two alternative versions, dancefloor-proof! Whether you’re a DJ, collector, music lover or player, don’t hesitate to purchase your copy and… play it!!

Aloha Fest 3 - Jan 12 - Venlo, NL

The third edition is a fact! Same beautifull venue as the previous edition; the Grenswerk concert hall in Venlo, Netherlands. Again we have two stages in the hall, so be prepared for an non-stop surf assault!

image

Tickets are 12 euros pre-sale and 14 euros at the door. Pre-sale link will be posted here soon!
There is also a tiki-market in the venue with art, fashion, records and even an old fashioned barbershop.
The same afternoon (around 15:00 hrs) we have a pre-party at Sounds Recordstore (the best & biggest recordstore of the Netherlands - just ask Lorenzo or JonPaul) with in-store gigs by Aloha Sluts and the Terrorsaurs.

Venlo is only a 40 minute drive from the airports of Dusseldorf, Eindhoven and a little bit longer from Antwerp or Cologne.

This year's line up:

Bradipos IV (I)
Italy’s oldest surfband has been one of Europes best and spectacular surf bands since 22 years! They just released their sixt album Lost Waves (vinyl only).

del-Toros (NL)
Imagine Kyuss playing Dick Dale songs! Stonersurf! It got them a
split single with Californian stonerlegends Fatso Jetson. On their latest album they collaborate with Peter te Bos (Claw Boys Claw) and sax-player Bertus Borgers!

Aloha Sluts (NL)
The hosts of tonight had a very succesfull 2018. Imagine a surf band on festival posters with big names as Descendents, Pennywise, Mummies, Dead Kennedys and more! 666% SURFABILLY! Imagine Link Wray & the Sonics had 3 little sons who started a surf band….

Terrorsaurs (UK)
Back on popular demand! They tore up the Aloha Stage at the
first edition of Aloha Fest and left everybody breathless! Now they are back, with a new double album on the legendary US Wild Records. Swamp surf that will rock your sox off!

Akulas (B)
Grinding organs, guitars drenched in reverb, catchy tunes it seems like a trademark for surf bands from Gent, Belgium. Remember Fifty Foot Combo? Akulas sound like the angry little brother!

Hicadoolas (D)
For the second year in a row, a Berlin band is opening Aloha Fest. A start of a new great tradition? Hicadoolas combine old school surf instrumentals with a female singer. They just released a new EP that got raving (international) reviews!

Here is a photo of the party during the Phantom Four gig last year:

THE MULLET MONSTER MAFIA & RED EYES ORCHESTRA

Hi dudes...

Online the live session who we recorded at the Lab Sound Studios (Piracicaba/Brasil), in the last July.

This is a new project with some friends, called THE MULLET MONSTER MAFIA & RED EYES ORCHESTRA.

The idea is remake some songs of ours and play some versions from bands of we liked, in a way not so explosive and agressive as our regular style.

Here we have 2 songs, FISHWATER CATAIA (our music) originally recorded at the Surf'n'Goat Ep in 2016, and As the Dark Evil Swells, a free version of a song of the kings of The Bambi Molesters from Croatia, one of the most amazing bands of the world for us. Hope you guys enjoyed.

See you in Europe in the next summer.

Cheers!!!
