Marty Klenz, known as Baja Marty to many of us, has been very ill. Several months ago, he went to the doctor with severe pain in his side. Doctors have discovered many complications, the most frightening of them, cancer. The news is overwhelming for Marty and his family; disheartening for the surf community. Marty is currently treating Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma with chemotherapy. Because of his current condition, Marty cannot work. With utilities and other expenses, medical bills are an unwelcome, but necessary evil in the mix. In an effort to help Marty during these critical times, we have put together this event to raise funds for "Baja" Marty. For those who do not know Marty, he has been a long-time surf music fanatic. Given the name "Baja" Marty from his favorite tune recorded by the Astronauts (written by Lee Hazlewood), many people in the community know and love him. Please help!
A benefit show is planned on Saturday, October 8, 11:00am - 7:00pm at The Starting Gate, 5052 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos, CA.

The Surf'n'Western Sounds of Mikelangelo and the Tin Star is the brainchild of prolific and critically acclaimed Australian performer, singer and songwriter Mikelangelo. He formed the Tin Star in Melbourne in late 2009, inspired by a love of 50's and 60's instrumental guitar and spagetti Western soundtracks.

With the departure of esteemed multi-instrumentalist Marty Tippens (who will not be playing live until his Ph.D is completed), the Insect Surfers (Planet Earth's Longest-Running Modern Surf Band) are now on the lookout for a second guitarist. Minimum daily requirements are a sense of energy, humor, and a modicum of instrumental competency. If you're reading this than hopefully you've heard of us or have an idea of what we sound like. influences range from Link Wray, Dick Dale and Davie Allan to Quicksilver and Television. Or from The Ventures and The Belairs to The Ramones, Iggy, and B52s. The Farfisas Are:
Frankie Farfisa: Guitar, yells
Freddie Farfisa: Bass
Philip Farfisa: Farfisa
"Big" Fredo "Daddy" Farfisa: Drums
The Farfisas formed in early 2011 on Long Island, NY by Frankie who was at that time performing with a rockabilly band named 'Hey Hey, Why Why?' and living out of a Winibago. He ran in to Freddie who worked at a local bait and tackle shop. The two hit it off and decided to form their own band.
After seeing Fredo and Philip performing as the duo 'Rude Dude', Frankie coaxed them to join what would eventually become the Farfisas. Everyone took the surname 'Farfisas' as a tip of the hat to The Ramones.
Their debut CD 'Surf, Far - Surf Good' is available on iTunes, CDBaby and other popular non brick and mortar locations.
Conceived, Produced and Performed by Rick Horvath

Threesome is a new Serbian combo that delivers the sound of explosive surf punk that doesn’t care much about time or place. “Adriatica” is their debut full-length CD release, packed with 12 blistering surf rock instros, some with a slight punk/indie rock influence. There are 11 originals, plus a cover of Man Or Astroman’s “Interstellar Hardrive”.
