Thanks guys! I find it satisfying to make stuff that looks like it barely works (if at all) yet is just as good as stuff that costs $$$$. I used an old label maker I found at a garage sale today for the retro diy-style embossed control labels. Next on the agenda is adding this to the toolbox, I just need to figure out a way to remotely switch it on and off.

Nice build, Fritz!
If you manage to add the trem, please let me know. My cab also has room for more effects and I already thought about putting a trem in there.

hi, i just finished mine...can't test it cause i've got the 12V PU only tomorrow
i decided to make it "60' studios" style...pultec blue..pultec knobs.. i left the extra holes for futures upgrades and i got to find a way to write her name with little clean white letters. i tried to build a logo with an aluminium piece but i wasn't happy with the result.
she's called the "BULTEC reverb Unit / model SB 4AB"
can't wait to test it!

here's that build with the cardinal trem, I guess it hasn't been posted here - might not be a surfer (indicated by the spring-pan he used), but apart from that a really decent pedal...

Bow's Fuzzy Surfy Bear Reverb status:
Its ALIVE!
I got the cabinet built up this weekend, found a RCA phono cable to temporarily abuse and fired it up into my Peavey Classic 30...
Instant Duane Eddy! This Reverb is incredibly cool. Then I hooked up my BME modified Fuzzrite circuit in front and hot damn....
Here is the cabinet, and next I will gut it and start the final finishing.

i confirm! i tested mine this morning, incredibly quiet, no humm, no buzz…and the sound is fantastic! love it!
about C10 mod, i tested several values, 150/220/560 and 1000pf…150 is useless, 220 is cool, 560 better, 1000 much better! (for my ears, 200% subjective point of view)…i'll skwizz the 150 and go to 2000 to see what happens…
also Bjorn can you confirm something: for the mix pot i use a log 250, at 100% wet with the dwell at zero i can here a little the dry sound…is it due to the log pot or on the original fender and yours there is the same thing happening? i have some 500K Lin here…should i use them instead of the log 250K?
Thanks.

Yes, what you describe is by design. The original 6G15 circuit includes a few compromises.
Another compromise is the output impedance that is unusually high: ~250kOhm. This can cause problems if your amp's input impedance not is high enough or if you got bad guitar cables. Using a 500k Mix-pot would make things even worse.

Here's my take on a mini SB tank:
golden linen with green front (unintentionally the colors of the label), creme mini chicken heads. Not yet a black face plate, and with 500 x 120 x 150 mm (roughly 20" x 5" x 6" - just a bit wider and deeper as the pan itself, and just an inch or two space between the pan and the chassis) ) it doesn't really need a back cover... . The extra hole is for a relay-operated foot switch project later.
My wife said: "Well, I don't mean to be rude, but this thing looks like a lost in the 60ies and forgotten in a basement..." - She looked a bit irritated when I hugged her tight and said "Thank you - You made my day...!":D

She may walk away shaking her head but she is smiling inside; you did the perfect thing. Extra points for hugs.
I REALLY like that color scheme and overall vibe of the build.

So is there anyway to get on prebuilt/pay someone to make one?

I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. After all, its the music it was meant to play.

I was wondering, too. Haven't seen any offer like that, though. I'd say the option easiest for small series production would be an aluminum cast pedal housing with external pan (not talking about a beautiful solution...) from someone who owns a vertical drilling machine. For a cab solution, the price might not be too far away from a tube tank... I know a few things I would do faster and better now, but still, it's quite a bit work to prepare and put everything together, in addition to ask the material (plywood, cloth, chassis, knobs...30-50€, plus PSU - in my small & simple solution. With pre-fab chassis, standard tank size and tolex probably at least 100...150€, I've seen a DIY-kit housing + chassis, without tolex for 135). Don't think anyone could offer all that plus work for less than a couple hundred bucks (plus Bjoern's set...). So we might be looking at 300-400 bucks total without overhead and margin, for someone with the proper tools... I paid just the material (altogether maybe 150€), the rest was a fun one-time-project (without proper tools).
