It was WAAY harder to come up with this list!

Reading everybody's choices made me realize how much I've been out of the surf loop the past few years, and had me looking up some great tunes I hadn't heard. Listed below are the revival tunes that influenced me the most when I was a bass player trying to learn surf guitar.

  1. Sir Finks - Mazatlan Stomp
  2. Trashwomen - Aphrodisia
  3. Fuzztones - the thing
  4. Phantom Surfers - ants in my pants
  5. Bomboras - Land of the one percenters
  6. Tiki Tones - sneaky tiki
  7. Man or Astro-man - Maximum Radiation Level
  8. Sir Finks - ugly surfer
  9. Reverend Horton Heat - Marijuana
  10. Bigger than God - acid is groovy, kill the pigs

Even my revival list is old school!

  1. Surf Coasters - Last Train
  2. Bambi Molesters - Theme from Slaying Beauty
  3. Langhorns - Tierra del Fuego (followed closely by Club Garbadino and the Vice of Killing)
  4. Los Twang! Marvels - Tocata and Fugue D Minor (and Cumana)
  5. The Madeira - Burning Mirage
  6. Tomorrowmen - Momentium (or Run Ripley Run, or Argosy)
  7. The Plungers - Into the Unknown
  8. The Halibuts - Hammerhead
  9. Los Coronas - Un Buen Día para Morir (I had to change it to this from Secret Agent man)
  10. Frankie & Pool Boys - Manx! (but others also of theirs I could've included)

So many others I could've put in here. 10 songs is really difficult.

  3. The Madeira - The Saracen
  4. Aqualads - Reef Rider
  5. Bitch Boys - Snowman

3. The Ghastly Ones - Thunderhead
4. Fifty Foot Combo - Inspection no. 5
5. The Space Cossacks - Apes of Wrath
6. The Insect Surfers - Diamondback
7. The Secret Samurai - Disenchanted

10. The Mystery Men? - Order of the Black Sun

As expected, this is much harder than the first wave list.

The Scimitars

For the final tallying, how are the counts going to be dealt with for people who didn't number/rank/prioritize and for those who put more than ten songs in?

There are two important rules that I keep in mind:
1) I am asking people to submit 10 favourite tracks, not more.
2) The order of the tracks does matter, your number 1 will receive the most points in the Top 101, your number 10 will receive the least points.

If somebody comes up with a list of more than 10 tracks I simply do not assign any points to the bottom tracks of that list (regardless of the order). A Top 10 is a Top 10. Totally fine with me if people want to display a Top 11, Top 15 or even a Top 50 up here but the Top 10 tracks are the only ones gaining any points.

As for as the order, if people come up with a list on alphabetical order or if they specifically mention the list is in no particular order I give all 10 tracks equal points. I do however strongly like to discourage this since it will make the actual Top 101 far less distinctive. Please take some more time and decide on the order of your tracks. If you had to make a choice to bring only one track to that remote tropical island? Which track would that be? And what if you could bring a second one? etc. etc. Should be possible for everybody.

If people have a list that is not numbered, not on alphabetical order and they do not mention there is no particular order I assume the top entry is #1 and the bottom entry # 10 of their list.

All entries so far have been accounted for and I will not be making any changes to those entries since I made the rules perfectly clear at the start of this thread.

For future entries I would like to kindly like to ask everybody to come up with a NUMBERED TOP 10 IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE! If you want to show the people on the forum more than 10 tracks, absolutely no problem to include more track at the bottom, as long a you realize it is the Top 10 that will receive all the points.

One last thing about not having a particular order in your list. The total ammount of points to divide is the same as with a Top 10 with a particular order. In a list with no particular order all tracks get the same ammount of points whereas with a Top 10 the number 1 gets a substantially higher amount of points as the number 10.

If you have 10 tracks that very little people support in no particular order it will result in none of your tracks entering the Top 101 whereas with a Top 10 in a particular order your number 1 is likely to end up in the Top 101 a lot sooner.

So please, for future entries:
SUBMIT A NUMBERED TOP 10 IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE!

Sorry for the messy list, I just corrected it.

I'm curious about ther broadcasting. Are there going to be any live DJ introductions or just the 202 instrumentals in a row?

That´s OK, I have added your numnber 11 "Tsunami Surprise" as number 10 since "Fire Escape Rope" is from 2013 and is therefore excluded from this list.

The Classic Surf Top 101 will be presented by DJ Jonpaul and the Surf Revival Top 101 by DJ Phantom.

This is going to be a unique and historic event in surf music. I suggest everybody (if not off already) takes a day off the day after Christmas Smile
It´s a Friday anyway so that makes for an extra long Christmas weekend with a historic dose of surf music to burn the turkey calories.

There were a lot of painful omissions to get a list down to 10, and it was cool to see most of those find their way onto other lists ... but this is the first one that's made me curse out loud for forgetting about it.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.
