Our long-term project band, Forever Surf, has all sorts of news to share:
A bit of history: It all started in 2003 with rhythm guitarists "Reverb Mike" Finney and lead guitarist Deane "Can't Sing" Stanton meeting on a Ventures cruise. They began playing and eventually ran into bassist Dave "DP' Pike right here at the SG101 "players wanted" forum section. For several years we traveled around meeting up for occasional gigs and recording sessions at each other's towns and homes. Additionally, we did many "remote recording sessions" laying digital tracks and exchanging them via USPostalService and CD-R. Eventually, Deane met up with Dave Martin who gracously laid down all of our live drum tracks on the NEW cd. Please stop by our site and give it a listen,
thanks again SG101,
-DP

Wabbit Wanch Studios Announces the New Album Instwoh-Mentals Vol. 1 from The Fabulous Blue Wabbits
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada – Wabbit Wanch Studios is pleased to announce the release of the debut album from The Fabulous Blue Wabbits, Instwoh-Mentals Volume 1, available from the Apple iTunes Store and other online music services on April 18, 2014.
Instwoh-Mentals Volume 1 is a studio album of 16 originals songs in the electric guitar-oriented, instrumental style made popular during the early 1960’s by groups such as The Shadows in Europe and The Ventures in North America. This musical style is a lighter, more melodic precursor to the more driven “surf music” that later dominated the airwaves of Southern California with groups such as Dick Dale and the Deltones. On this album, The Fabulous Blue Wabbits present the full spectrum of the 1960’s instrumental style from European sophistication to Southern Californian “sun and fun”.
Forty-five years after the original Blue Diamonds made their appearance on the Club 6 television program, the two remaining band members, Mel Patrick (guitars) and Fred Lichota (bass guitar), reformed in 2006 as The Fabulous Blue Wabbits. They no longer perform live, but continue to write and record 1960’s-style instrumental music. Their song “California Longboard” was featured on “A Day At The Beach” on Radio Station KCS in San Diego, California.
Instwoh-Mentals Volume 1 is available now from the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, 7digital, 24-7, Rumblefish, the Google Music Store, and Shazam.
“Four Decades of Surf…with Three and a Half Decades Missing”
The new release from Crazy Aces is finally here!
Jeff Senn, Justin "Oscar" Cary, Tom Hoey and Kiwamu Stewart advance the Crazy Aces experience with "Surfadelic Spy-a-Go-Go", a continuation and progression from their critically acclaimed 2012 debut "Greatest Hits Volume 2".
The title for the new record is derived from the band's own description of their unique, instrumental sound. Drawing from styles and genre's like Surf, Go-Go, Psychedelic, Spy and Garage Rock, the mission for this record was to better define the band's individual sound and record in a more simple, less Hi-Fi approach, in the spirit of the band's influences and mentors.
Self recorded, mixed and produced at their rehearsal space in Nashville, TN., Surfadelic Spy-a-Go-Go takes the listener on a journey through the twang imbued world of classic spy plots, fuzz inflicted trips of psychedelia, the dreamy soundscapes of '60's Abbey Road ballads and the raw excitement of first wave Surf. All of these sounds are blended together in a way that is not only unique but totally Crazy Aces.
The CD is/will be available through CDBaby.com, iTunes, Double Crown Records, Deep Eddy Records, Amazon.com and direct through Crazy Aces Facebook.
“Atollo13”, surf/rock‘n’roll band from southern Italy, released their 1st, self-titled and self-produced album in CD, including 10 original tunes and a new version of the classic “California sun”.

The "Search for Atlantis" is a collection of Greek bands. In the past, there were several collection of Greek bands; even specialized ones with groups playing a specific style of music. However, this collection is unique as all participating bands play solely instrumental surf. Never before were so many bands in Greece to play this kind of music. We are talking about a very vibrant scene that is booming within the biggest economic and social catastrophe that Greece has experienced in its modern post-war history. We have created this collection with so much care both because we love surf music and for its particularity: The vast majority of participants haven’t released anything else so far and so this is their first step towards the general public. We want this scene to flourish by all means and leave visible traces in its passing. We hope it will receive positive response as a first step to establish in the minds of the people that surf music is an autonomous genre with lot of potential, but also as a reward of all the bands which strive for the best in unfavorable conditions. Surf's up !
