In 1963 The Atlantics were at the forefront of surf music in Australia, with their classic surf instrumental "Bombora" sitting for eight weeks at No. 1 in the Top 40 charts around Australia.
In 1999, in response to a growing demand from surf music enthusiasts around the world, The Atlantics - Peter, Jim, Bosco and new member Martin, got together in the studio for the first time in thirty years to recreate that surf pounding sound that made "Bombora" such a classic.
The result was Flight of the Surf Guitar. Featuring seventeen tracks, comprising fourteen all new originals, together with brand new recorded versions of three of their most popular songs, "The Crusher", "Rumble and Run" and of course, "Bombora."
This album has now been remixed and remastered for a new generation. It also contains 2 brand new, never released, tracks - Maroubra Beach written by Martin Cilia & Islands in the Surf written by Jim Skiathitis.
So sit back, hang five, and listen once again to the sound of . . . The Atlantics!
You can buy it from Leo's Den, Amazon & Bandcamp, coming soon to Double Crown Records.

Hello surf guitar folks. I just saw this article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel and thought someone in here might be interested:
"Santa Cruz police recover $225K in stolen vintage guitars - Instruments part of $2 million Southern California burglary
SANTA CRUZ — Local police investigators played a role this week in recovering several stolen vintage guitars, part of a nearly year-old $2 million Southern California heist.
Police are continuing to investigate a Santa Cruz connection to a Marina Del Rey heist nabbing some $2 million in stolen guitars. (Santa Cruz Police Department — Contributed)
After receiving a tip from the Los Angeles Police Department, Santa Cruz Police Department detectives, with help from members of the Santa Cruz Police Neighborhood Policing Team and Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, served search warrants Tuesday at three different city locations.
Police in Southern California had already arrested several suspected burglars in August, tying them to a July burglary of some $2 million in musical equipment and personal belongings from a storage unit in Marina Del Rey. Investigators later learned that some of the stolen guitars were being sold from Santa Cruz through the online site reverb.com, a legitimate online website.
Nine stolen vintage guitars were recovered from a Delaware Avenue warehouse and two associated residences, according to Lt. Arnold Vasquez. The guitars ranged in value from $5,000 to $50,000 each, with a combined recovery total of $225,000, according to Santa Cruz police. The Santa Cruz police have made no arrests in the local case, “as it remains unclear how the stolen property came into the possession of subjects associated to the searches,” according to Vasquez."
