Twilight at Trestles, fleshing it out with the studio-qual backing track that came with the booklet Brian had suggested a bit ago. Future daughter-in-law's pre-ceremony wedding music is going to be beach-layabout surf. (Lots of fun this booklet with the 6 Torquays b/t's.) Am reminded how sweet simply JM --> Gomez tank --> Vibrolux can be. Yes, Brian mentioned it recently in another thread about backing tracks. You can get it here. It's not a huge reference book, but there is some good info for beginners, a quick but well-done summary of music symbology in tabs, some interesting quotes, some humor, and tabs to one of Dave's own songs, as well as THOROUGH tabs to the six Torquays songs on the companion CD, which includes the full-versions plus the backing track from the studio with the lead guitar removed. Skill levels of those tunes run the gamut. Being a huge Torquays fan it was worth the coin for me, easily. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

Been learning 'Baja' the last few days. Had to finally buy a surf reverb, FRV 1, to make it sound right. Of course the new pedal enhanced all my surf songs so has been a lot of fun. |

Of course it's Dick Dale's "Surfing Drums". Once I received the French magazine Xtreme Guitare with the DVD and printed tab I had no excuse not to work on learning that tune. |

I have 14 new originals plus "Up, Up and Away" and a new version of "La Bikina". We covered "La Bikina" in its traditional Marathi waltz tempo on our CD "Destination...Fun!!" a couple of years ago, but I always wanted to do it in 4/4 time like a Ventures style intro. Be looking for our release at the end of this year. |
