Try playing them on YouTube at half or even quarter speed. You could record them with an audio recorder app or device.

Good suggestion. For what it's worth, you can bring them (mp3, etc.) into Audacity if you have it on a PC and actually slow down the tempo without changing the pitch. Has helped me a few times gain some muscle memory or answer the question, "Hmmm, what's going on here?"

My band Dead Surf 60 is back together for a two gig reunion/farewell tour! Mainly surf with a couple of blues vocals thrown in to keep it interesting.

Here is the set list
Hawaii 5-0 Ventures
Walk Don't Run Ventures
Speed Boat Torquays
Board in The Stone Torqays
9 Miles to Stuckeys Torquays
Eva on the Beach Frankie and the Pool Boys
Flash of Green Pollo Del Mar
Fadaway Laika and the cosmonauts
Wanganui Bambi Molesters
Pearl Divin Molesters
Landlocked Molesters
Kawanga Los Straight Jackets
Messin with the Kid Junior Wells (Blues)

Slight Figure of Speech Avett Brothers (Vocal)
Goo Goo Muck The Cramps (Vocal)
Ocean Man Ween (Vocal)
Motorcycle Girl Cruzados Blues vocal
Surfin Bird Trashmen
Endless Summer Laika and the Cosmonauts
Kanon in D Baronics
It hurts Me Too Junior Wells
Blue Jean (zz Top)

I have almost all the leads down except on Kawanga. We kinda swap it out with me on lead guitar most of the time but I play bass on a couple and drums on the blues songs.

We have two gigs in September one at a Blueberry farm (outside) and one at a local brewery.

To those of you on this forum that actually wrote some of those songs: Emulation is the highest compliment. We do them right and always give credit on stage.

Good list Rob!

I am trying to learn Hurricane like the Ventures Yes

Grab the jag, then the surfboards and hop in the Woody. Let's Go Trippin.

I am mostly working on writing original surf songs on a Sigma acoustic (read beater), which is actually not that easy. I take licks, techniques, and melodies I have gleaned from listening to surf music. Then I modify it, splice it in my mind and regurgitate it onto my portable studio....... my iphone. Ta da, a rough draft. If it's acceptable, I retrack it in Garageband with electric guitars. Sometimes the hardest part is naming a song that has no lyrics, but other times the lyrics are right there hidden in the melody (I'm singing them in my mind while I'm playing). Then at the end of the song I have so many song titles, that I have trouble picking one.

I finished combining the acoustic bass, electric bass and cello parts in Good Vibrations into a single arrangement for one bassist. It took several days, but I finally memorized it, and can play all of it on time without the chart. I have to say, this has been an extremely rewarding experience.

I'll debut the arrangement at band practice this Saturday, along with the other nine songs I'm playing acoustic rhythm guitar on.

This is fun!

A lot of folks here have encouraged me in this effort, and I want to thank all of you.

NEAT! Congratulations! Quite the arrangement challenge; we gonna get some band audio out of this? Yes

Thank you! There will be a mounted video camera recording the entire day, this set included. I'll post video as soon as I have it.

I'm working on a surf cover of Bella Ciao. Does anyone here know if that idea already is taken?

Amber Waves by Frankie & The Pool Boys, just in case Ferenc puts out the backing track to this. It's an uplifting song & a blast to play.

To honor Danny I'm gonna put that A note on looper & make a ringtone out of it:
"What's that noise in your pocket?"
"It's an A."

Ahhhh, I crack myself up. ROTFL

Back to work.
