Thank you Tim. I couldn't find any red pickup covers so I bought a can of red krylon and painted the covers, knobs and trem cap. I wouldn't have touched it if it were an AVRI, mine is a CIJ. I am on the other side of another great SURF-ROCK SHINDIG last night at OTTO'S SHRUNKEN HEAD really mixed it up, with 4 different takes on instrumental 'surf' first up, THE CHILLERS from New Jersey, who mix garage, and bar-band rock into their surf set; here they are performing HANG TEN FROM AVALON, one of 4 videos I shot last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpKQa_GfbPo second up, the MATT RAE TRIO from Connecticut and dare I say it, Wappingers NY; here is band that slips some soft jazz, a splash of blues, alt-country, into their surf music set this video has captured them performing BIG JIM'S BOOGIE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsTBMVXdovM the third band, local fave-raves THE COFFIN DAGGERS, put on a wonderful shot; this band like to lean heavily into the 'dark side' of surf, as witnessed here in the video I took of them performing BREAKING TIDE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPW91MfXxQc things concluded with another New Jersey band, BLUE WAVE THEORY, whose take on surf is peppered with prog-rock references; but here's a fairly straight ahead trad take on SLEIGH RIDE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk8DZ6JO6Ro thanks to all the artists, the wonderful staff at OTTO's, and all the fans who came out on a brisk night to fill the room -- old, loyal, returning, and new!!!! you don't have to go to the ocean to hear the surf, you just to go to one of my SURF-ROCK SHINDIGS!! STEVE it was real cool when you guys broke into that XMAS classic, I gotta tell ya my little CANON camera is really amazing I am having a blast doing these videos trying to get as close to the action as I can thus giving the viewer an opportunity to come pretty close to see and feel what I am experiencing truly great show you put on, UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |

not sure if everyone is aware of this, but MISTER NEUTRON has decided to call it quits this has been posted in other places in the last day or 2 but note: their last show I am honored to announce will be at the next SURF-ROCK SHINDIG on January 3 2009, which also happens to be my yearly Birthday Shindig extravaganza......starts at 6 pm, last band is Midnight....and as already announced, that last band is VIVISECTORS' GULAG TUNES so it's turning into a special night hope some of you West Coasters might want to consider a trip East for this one!! SURF-ROCK SHINDIGs at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD are booked through February 2009 I am starting to fill in shows all the way to June 2009 remember---the shows are every first Saturday of the month; in 2009, shows will start at 9 pm instead of 10 pm, and the 4th band will go on at Midnight instead of 1 am so check a calendar and let me know if U wanna jump in for any of the months March thru June 2009 write me off-line, schizofredric@yahoo.com cmon and safari with me, UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |

I have gotten the go-ahead to put on a special START-OF-SUMMER SURF- The date: JUNE 20 2009 Start time: 7 pm OPEN CALL FOR 6 BANDS ONE BAND ON THE TOP OF THE HOUR, EVERY HOUR 45 MINUTE SETS LAST BAND GOES ON AT MIDNIGHT any interest? then write to me at: I suspect this will fill fast, no one was given any advance notice, UNSTEADY FREDDIE P.S. IF YOU ARE SET TO PERFORM IN EITHER THE MAY OR JUNE 2009 SHINDIGs, AND YOU ARE ALSO INTERESTED IN JUNE 20TH, LET ME KNOW...I WILL PUT YOU ON A 'WAIT LIST' SO AS TO GIVE OTHER BANDS A CHANCE TO PLAY A SHINDIG AT OTTO's; I WANT TO FINISH THE LIST OF 6 BANDS THAT ARE COMMITTED 100% BY NEW YEARS EVE, SO IF THERE ARE STILL OPENINGS, THE MAY/JUNE BANDS WILL BE OFFERED THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM ON JUNE 20TH.
