let me say, that the BIRTHDAY SHINDIG last night was a crazy party non-stop!! 7 bands performed, many friends came by to be part of the scene, many gifts were bestowed upon me....I am so filled with gratitude for it all all bands gave it their all, and the overcrowded house ate it all up this was MISTER NEUTRON's final performance (allegedly........we'll see!!), and I captured a couple of tunes on video: HORNETS NEST (Los St-Jax cover) and DEPTH CHARGE (Jon + The Nightriders cover) I also recorded 2 other videos; SURF + TURF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=013D_t0ldL8&feature=channel_page HANG DADDY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYsptSN7e4I&feature=channel_page I am exhausted, to say the least, after being involved in 3 shows in 4 days - those being with VIVISECTORS' GULAG TUNES -- they brought a lot of Russian fans to the show/party as well this is a night I won't ever forget UNSTEADY FREDDIE —http://www.facebook.com/unsteady.freddie Last edited: Jan 05, 2009 12:38:48 |

as people are aware, my monthly SURF-ROCK SHINDIGs take place at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD every first Saturday of the month for July, 2009, it just so happens that the first Saturday of the month is July 4th, Independence Day to celebrate the holiday, this will be a <u>6-band, 6-hour </u>SHINDIG first band goes on at 7 pm, last band at Midnight anyone interested in being part of the line-up, reach out to me at schizofredric@yahoo.com thanks! one band wrote me an email asking about the '4-month rule' what that is, is, essentially, I like to leave 4 months between when a band plays a 'regular' SURF-ROCK SHINDIG until the next time they play a 'regular' SURF-ROCK SHINDIG that works out to 3 'regular' SURF-ROCK SHINDIGs a year, per band; I feel this is fair and gives all interested surf-beat artists an opportunity to participate in a 'regular' SURF-ROCK SHINDIG; I am assuming people understand what my motive is.... but a few times a year I either do a multi-band SURF-ROCK SHINDIG or team up with promoter FRANK WOOD for our semi-regular UNSTEADY/WOOD 'BEACH BALL' shows for those 'irregular' shows, I permit bands to perform within the 4-month window, b/c, frankly, I usually need 6 bands to fill the show's program; the only thing I ask, is that a band not be on a 'regular' SURF-ROCK SHINDIG the month before or the month after these 'irregular' shows....so as, again, to give all bands a chance to grab an open slot. Note, however, if and when a date is fast approaching, and I need to fill an open slot on these 'irregular' shows I put on, I make an exception, if need be, just to ensure the show is 100% booked, and this gives me some lead time to promote it and create posters, get them put up at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD, etc. I hope this answers any open questions about my booking, loosely speaking, 'policies' - and directly answers one of the bands who essentially accused me of playing favorites with one of the bands that often performs at my shows know this: NO ONE GETS SPECIAL TREATMENT. NO ONE. PERIOD. I do my damndest to spread the open shows to all interested artists UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |

good to hear from you MOON_DAWG! note: SHINDIGs now start at 9 pm, moved back f/10 pm last band is on at MIDNIGHT, moved back from 1 am but OTTO's stays open as late as the legal limit, 4 am..... 538 E 14 St. is between Avenues A + B bring ID b/c they do proof at the door please ID yourself when you make your way to the back room where the music is safe journeys UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |
