Is that your surfy bear sitting there Ludo? It looks great. I might have to do a real cab for mine.

Got this Guitar as a freebie for a promotion from work. It came with horrible pickups that looked like EMGs. Last edited: Dec 31, 2014 14:07:12 |

My current project, sorry, no photos, is adding a second pickup to my Gretsch G6119-1959. It's a great guitar with the strong treble of a trestle-braced Gretsch, but without a neck pickup it just wasn't versatile enough. So . . . I had it routed by a trusted luthier, and am awaiting the delivery of a second TV Jones Powertron pickup for the neck position. When finished, it will have a reduced control set, a pickup switch and a master volume; as they advertise with the Brian Setzer Hot Rod, a gas pedal and a gearshift. Gretsch guitars are not your everyday fare for the world of Surf, but they can sound awesome in that role. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

Jeff, how can you work on such a clean work bench? Eddie Klutter...... —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

That, my good man, in NOT a messy work area........... At making a mess, you are apparently not among the gifted..... I still live by the old adage that: "creative minds are rarely tidy." As always........my story and I am sticking with it. ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

I finished a commissioned Tele build that I was working on. I used northern ash & chambered it heavily. The final weight of the finished guitar is 6.8 lbs. It sounds amazing & looks beautiful. I created this color myself & the finish is very thin, as per the clients request. Grainfiller, one coat of vinyl sealer, two light coats of color & two light coats of clear. I used 2 oz of sealer & 8 oz of lacquer total! It should wear quickly. Unfortunately, it does not have one of my necks. The client had a Musikraft he wanted to use. He supplied the decal & neck plate too. Here's some in progress & completed pics.... The ash blank & top after I resawed & glued them up.... Hoggin' out the guts.... Routed smooth.... Top glued on & perimeter rough cut.... Nice, clean routes.... Back of body after polishing.... Front after polishing.... Precision.... Cutting the pickguard.... The finished product.... From the back.... I apologize for such a photo-heavy post! I always like to show progress as well as the finished product. Also, I just took in a '61/'62 Jazzmaster for a refinish. I'll be posting pics soon! —Otto & The Ottomans |

Acoustically, it's a bit more resonant. Plugged in, there's no difference. It's pure Tele. The pickups (Porter "standard" pickups) are punchy & articulate. —Otto & The Ottomans |
