Do tell!

In case you are wondering what I am doing with the computer on a Saturday in October, I am stuck at home 20 miles from any beach, wife has the car, and it's 97º, too damn hot to work on the guitar that's on my own workbench!

Sure, but what do you put down with the glitter and what do you put on top of it?

Insanitizers! http://www.insanitizers.com

Sprinkled into what, Ludo?

Squink Out!

into acrylic varnish and after i will varnish it with 2 k automotive
the acrylic is a glue in this case

My Number 1 reverb unit. It's been sounding kind of lousy lately. Giving it a bit of a tune up. New pan, new tubes, re-form the filter caps, the usual stuff.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Nice sparkle ludobag!

I had one of my '58 Dano/Silvertones on the bench today.
It was a single (neck) pickup so I installed another vintage lipstick and also installed the proper pots.

Simple enough... Thanks!
I'll have to try powder sometime, your result is blinding!

Ludo,
How do you spread that acrylic? Brush it on?
Is it catalyzed with ketone?

miss a little ,i haven't put enought varnish i think

it is not hard but it is long !(don't move this out of context )

ludobag, a tip, if you spray a quick coat of regular gold paint before applying the sparkle it would help with even coverage. A little late I guess but there you have it.
Looks great!

Jeff

in fact i prefer without cause with gold paint under you don't see the miss when you done it but only after when it is full varnish ,then too late

Ah, I see.
Well it's sure looking good!

Jeff

This is the grandaddy of all sparkle tutorials:

make a clean limit on the head stock with another coat to fix it

the body all varnished to avoid sparkle lost ,it was not easy :roll:too windy at this time

,tort ,black or white ?

White or tort. NOT black! You should use a plum guard, that'd match the gold just fine. Plum and gold is often used in combination.

Btw, very nice work!

How much is left on the finish? More clear coat?

need some coat again to blury the sparkle ,i do it with a brush at this time
after i will sand it flat and put coat with gun (too wast with gun ,you have only 50 % of varnish on the guitar the rest goes in air )
cause it is not flat then need to put coat to have varnish at the same height as sparkle ,result this wavy surface

I am totally digging this blow-by-blow account of this Tele craftman.
Ludo, you are no slouch either! Kudos on this ambitious sparkle finish. What kind of glitter are you using?
