Hi everybody. I joined this forum last year but lurked here for at least 2 years prior. I was lured over here from the tiki forum by BTD. I’m not a musician but enjoy noodling around on the guitar and ukulele. I really enjoy surf rock and got hooked like a lot of others by MOAM back in the good ole 90s.
I moved from Maryland (pronounced Merlin) to San Diego in 99 and didn’t pay attention to music for a while. I really enjoy this forum and appreciate the enormous amount of info shared here and effort put into it. Thanks to all the bands (especially the ones who make it to San Diego), bars, promoters and fans that allow this music to keep on keepin on. I’ll do my best to support when I can.
Nick
Nick,
Always good seeing ya at shows,
when you can make them.
Whether up here or in San Diego.

HamMan here. I have long been a fan of surf music, thanks dad, and thought this would be a good spot to talk guitar tech. Actually tried my hand at surfing while living in Costa Rica. I caught two waves! The ocean scared the crap out of me last time I paddled out, so I decided I would finally give up smoking.
I'm up in Idaho for now until mid-june then going back on the road with the circus sideshow for 12 weeks to get some money together to move my wife and cats to Seattle.
I just bought a Danelectro Danoblaster from a used guitar shop last week. It does not have a lot of the dano features that made me want one in the first place, but for $100 figured I wouldn't be so picky.
I look forward to geeking out on here.

Welcome Hamman. A Dano for $100 is a good deal regardless of the features. I rarely play my '63, but it makes for great decor.

Thanks Crazy Aces and Thanks Noel,
To answer your question Noel, I saw a local band here in PA called The Surf Ratz. They were a classic three piece and they were older guys probably fiftyish. The guitar player was so good, and he made it look easy. He played a tune called Sultans Of Surf, and played like Mark Knopfler almost note for note. You could tell they were well rehearsed.

These guys? https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Surf-Ratz/256772669315 If so, they're far enough away that I've never heard of them and near enough to go see.

Hey everybody, kinda new here, I've lurked on and off for a couple years, looking for tabs and fun stuff to read. My name's Dave, I live in Media, pa., having lived in Philly before that since 1990. Before that I grew up in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania area (Camp Hill). I've been a periodic lurker/poster over at the Gretsch Pages for a year or so, as well as on Offset guitar forum. Hope to make some new friends and aquaintances here!

Thanks! I got pictures of some gear I'll share with you all. I'm in the beginning stages of starting a surf band here in Philly and hope to have some of that to share as well.
