Hi there ! ChainSWray here. I'm a 25-yo surf music fan from France. I checked out the style out of pure curiosity years ago and it infected me. Made me love my instrument (the guitar !) again. I'm now a slave to the reverb as much as I am to the blast-beat. I've been reading SG101 for years but I decided to register so I could talk a bit about gear and old bands Idon't know yet.
I love mostly "recent" bands, but will never spit on the original stuff. Link Wray is my absolute favourite musician. Some of the bands I love are The Ghastly Ones, Fifty Foot Combo, Messer Chups (later stuff), Los Tiki Phantoms, Lost Acapulco.... For the newer stuff, and Dick Dale, Eddie And The Showmen, The Chantays, Fender IV, Avengers IV and The Atlantics for the classic stuff.

Currently spinning the Atlantics, Daikaiju and Cannibal Mosquitos.

Hope I'll get along with everyone and learn a lot Very Happy

Q: How many Surf musicians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. Surf musicians can’t afford light bulbs.

Welcome to our little corner of cyber space. We have a great bunch of guys and gals here. I think you will enjoy it here.

Your gear seems to cover all the bases. Is that a surf green pedal board on the floor? If so, that is pretty darn cool.

Talk to you later,
Norm

Is that a warmoth tele?

Welcome, nice rig. Great people here.

IMO.

Welcome to surfguitar. Lots of great info and people here. I was wondering if that is an xavier tele from guitar fetish online.if so how does it play? Smile

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

Another new member here. I don't surf or play, but I do love surf music! Smile

I'm 52 years old, about the same age as surf music.
I remember so many classic surf songs from when my little ears first heard them on my older brothers AM radio.
In the last few years I have begun exploring all the fabulous stuff I missed or forgot, as well as modern surf music.

BTW I live a block from Rockaway Beach, New York.
We got hit real hard by Sandy but we're coming back.
And the surfers never stopped coming...

Chris,
Welcome. Glad to have you with us. We have a great bunch here. I am sure you will enjoy it here. If you listen to, play or what to learn about surf, this is the place. We have everyone from absolute beginners to old hacks (like myself) to some of the best surf guitarists on the planet.

I hope your recovery from Sandy is coming along. Got to be rough.

Talk to you later,
Norm

Michael,

Thanks for the information about the Tele. That one caught my eye. I was going to ask, but now I don't have to. Sounds like a heck of a great guitar.

Later,
Norm

Hi everybody. I joined this forum last year but lurked here for at least 2 years prior. I was lured over here from the tiki forum by BTD. I’m not a musician but enjoy noodling around on the guitar and ukulele. I really enjoy surf rock and got hooked like a lot of others by MOAM back in the good ole 90s.

I moved from Maryland (pronounced Merlin) to San Diego in 99 and didn’t pay attention to music for a while. I really enjoy this forum and appreciate the enormous amount of info shared here and effort put into it. Thanks to all the bands (especially the ones who make it to San Diego), bars, promoters and fans that allow this music to keep on keepin on. I’ll do my best to support when I can.
