Pipeline Magazine notes head-spinning intensity of Insanitizers' Wild Surf Guitars

The latest Pipeline Instrumental Review magazine (issue 92, summer 2013, page 38) reflects the intensity of the recordings on the Insanitizers 2013 CD "Wild Surf Guitars":

"There may be quite a variety of sounds on this album from The Insanitizers but the recurring theme is of lively, intertwining guitars that swap leads and riffs with head-spinning fervour. Be it the repetitive jangle of "At the Beach," the sparkling twang of "GooglEyes" or the frantic surf of "Surf Wall Street," their aim seems to be to fry your brain...

"The most conventional track is "Man Hunter," an acoustic take on the old cowboy western style. This provides a useful transition into the final three instrumentals...an acoustic guitar duo...The surf-flavoured "Undertow" works very well and the strongly rhythmic "Fantwango" round off the album very nicely."

NGD magazine enthusiastic about Whimsical Surf Version Two

Instrumental rock-n-roll review magazine New Gandy Dancer (NGD) issue 112, just printed, gives a four star (highest) rating to the Insanitizers' "Whimsical Surf Version Two" CD.

They write, "Frantic, fun & full of guitar rock originals ...Great tearing surf and driving instrumentals with some really nice covers secreted in there, like the theme from Alfred Hitchcock, "Mozart 40" and "The Sugar Plum Fairy" - all powered up of course!

"Dance Like A Robot" is a strong starter for ten, with its rollicking & rolling axes and "Waterboard Surfing" is a racey, wild surfer. "Hot Sauce" is a BIG sound reminiscent of Davie Allan's material or indeed The Ventures' "In Space" album. This set definitely can't fail."

"Best New Release" and "Cry of the Heart" awards for "Wild Surf Guitars" CD

The new 20 song CD release "Wild Surf Guitars" by the Insanitizers received awards from two CD review publications and top ratings from a third within the past month.

Indiemusic.co just recognized "Wild Surf Guitars" as a best new release among indie music of all genres (publication date June 3, 2013). Their review is here.

This is the conclusion of the review:     If this was a throwback sixties beach film, and this band was the movies heroes, it’d wrap up like this: “The Insanitizers win this heat and take the tournament! The Insanitizers are new Kings of Wild Surf Guitars!”
Yeah; it’s like that.

"Cry of the Coyote" rock-n-roll CD review magazine published in France gave this CD the "Cry of the Heart" award with top ratings. They wrote, "this CD lives up to its title."

"New Gandy Dancer" instrumental rock CD review magazine rated this CD 4 of 4 stars and wrote, "busy surfing set with lots happening. It's rewarding to hear a group dedicated to their art...genuine 1960s surf guitars, bass and drums. The all-original songs are simply soaked in high twanging, reverbed guitars and easy to remember melody lines."

"Wild Surf Guitars" CD by The Insanitizers, Release Party

The Insanitizers released their 20 song CD "Wild Surf Guitars." The Insanitizers expand the borders of surf guitar into classical guitar, classic rock, modern rock, country, polka, flamenco, and rockabilly. Nineteen of these songs put the guitar front and center; there is no room for a vocalist. This CD tells stories of adventure, mystery and energy with guitar instrumentals in an involving experience. The band has fun performing, and when you listen you will be part of the fun.

This CD also introduces Rodriel & Gabrigo, the Insanitizers Flamenco Surf Rockabilly (Flamencobilly) Acoustic Duo, with three memorable frenetic instrumentals based on surf guitar songs. Come hear the Duo's performance at the CD Release Party, starting 6pm Friday March 22, 2013, at Music Millennium, 3158 E. Burnside St., Portland, Oregon. The performance will be for an hour and there is no cost to attend.

Whimsical Surf Version TWO by the Insanitizers

Microsoft does it, Apple does it, and now the Insanitizers have issued a revised version of their surf guitar CD "Whimsical Surf." Why revise? Because the Insanitizers found how to make their guitars sound both energetically edgy and gorgeous. Here is the first professional review of this new CD:

From “Cry of the Coyote” rock-n-roll CD review magazine published in France. Review received Jan. 4, 2013.

"Conrad Swartz's band decided to revisit the content of their previous album, while I await their next CD. This gives me the chance to appreciate the humor of such titles as "Polkzart" (the 40th symphony of Wolfgang Amadeus as a  super fun polka), "Fantwango" (a rocking tango), and "Fowl ball" or "Beerocracy" (puns on "foul ball" and "bureaucracy"). I rediscovered versions of "Sugarplum" ("Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky) which rocks well and of "Puppetor" ("Funeral March of a Marionette" by Gounod) in flamenco rock style. They added supplementary guitars, changed the solos on some songs, and concocted new arrangements and new melodies on others. I was thrilled by the first version, but the second is even more rockin’ and the guitars gallop. Everything on this album is a keeper, what a great time for fans of rockin' surf!"

"Whimsical Surf Version 2" CD by the Insanitizers is now available at DeepEddy.net and CDBaby.com/cd/insanitizers3.
