I am pleased to announce the SurfGuitar101 2023 MP3 Compilation! Our 19th one! Just like before, this is a way for members to share music, recording tips, and to just have fun. The main emphasis is fun, so please send in an entry no matter what your skill level is. Here are the rules:
Please use the comment thread for this news story to discuss the compilation and to get information on how to submit an mp3. Please also use that thread if you'd like to find a fellow member to work with on the project. With the magic of digital recording and the Internet, remote collaborations are possible. Make your own virtual surf band!
Please check out our prior compilations by using the links in the bottom left sidebar of the desktop version of our site.
This year's compilation is dedicated to our dear friend Noel Squitieri, who sadly passed away on Christmas day, 2023. Noel was a huge supporter of surf music and this website. His generosity, kindness, and endless enthusiasm will be sorely missed. Our condolences go out to his many friends and his family. Please think about Noel the next time you attend a show, post in our forums, or listen to the surf music he loved.
Let the comp begin!

Since most animals that enter the surf space are lizards, dogs, cats or deformations that once were animals, I decided to link surf to pigs in this release. It's just a fun in-between single release for you December dance parties and it's rather Man or Astroman like from what I hear. Vintage Eurosurf-dance to the core, for a change. I'm sure you will like it. Here's "Do the swine"!
Ukrainian surf band Waikiki Makaki (now consisting only of German based band leader Vitalii Yakushyn aka Samurai) presents new double side single. On A side you may find a mid tempo ballad “Rhino blues” and B side provides an energetic rocker “Full Contact Surf”.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Vitalii Yakushyn in Stromberg Studios. Cover art by Kateryna Yakushyna.
Sleazy twangy saxy surf from the dark side of the reverb tank. Pulling together all the E.P.'s on one album, Dark Magic marks the first phase of the Tribe's output.

Magnatech's 4th album provides you with an eclectic mix of stompers, ballads and twist tunes. From the Astronauts-like "Hecate" all the way to the sophisticated mid-tempo ballad "Blanche Monnier" you will embark on a journey that will lead you from the US to the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and back to the Netherlands again all the while jumping to the beat but with a little time to breathe and cool down during the ballads, which invite you to slow dance or just enjoy the melody.
"Herr Magnatech bittet zum Tanz" is a collaboration with A Guy Who Owns An Organ and will keep you on the dancefloor whilst giving you also the chance to relax! We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
