Podcast Episode #2 Now Available!

Check it out! Please visit our podcast page and download our second episode. Only a year in the making!

Episode two features a new SG101 theme song written by our own WR and performed by Ferenc, DannySnyder and TonyBologna! In addition, we have an interview with Ferenc!

This episode was conceived and produced by DannySnyder and his wife Lady Reverb (Adrienne). A special thanks to Adrienne for lending her wonderful voice and song selection to this podcast!

There were a few technical problems with the sound quality, especially on the interview, but we hope to have these worked out for future episodes.

A longer version of the interview with Ferenc may be posted later.

Please share this with your friends and family!

Enjoy!

Jerry Cole 1939 - 2008

This is from a broadcast email from 3 Balls of Fire guitarist Mike Vernon:

Our dear friend, Jerry Cole died Wednessday night at his home in Corona, California. Jerry's wife, Gale, was with him when he suffered a massive heart attack. Jerry was 68 years old and is survived by Gale and their daughters, Monique and Katrina, and son, Cane. Jerry's other son, Keith, died just a year earlier at the age of 28. Funeral services are still pending but a public memorial is also being planned for the near future.

Jerry Coletta was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1939. After moving to Chicago with his mother, he started cutting his musical chops in the gritty Chicago blues scene of the fifties. It wasn't long after that he found himself in the Champs and had his first hit, "Tequila". He and Glen Cambell shared guitar duties with the group and eventually both landed in Los Angeles where they began to get studio work. It wasn't too long before they were in the thick of it and with a loosley knit group of steller musicians became known as the Wrecking Crew. Jerry was probably one of the most recorded guitarist in history and appeared on an impressive and diverse list of who's who in American popular music including virtually all of the Phil Spector groups, many of the Beach Boys records including "Pet Sounds", Gene Vincent, B.B. King, The Byrds, Roger MsGuinne, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, Lee Hazlewood, Ricky Nelson, Paul Revere and the Raiders and Roger Miller. And as Jerry liker to say, "and that was just the first day!" He also did a stint as band leader on Shindig where he performed with the likes of The Rolling Stones and Jerry Lee Lewis. He also led the band on The Sonny and Cher Show and was even in Elvis Presley's back-up band in "King Creole".

The Trashmen/The Chantays

Greetings Friends,

I was just informed that THE TRASHMEN/THE CHANTAYS Proposal was not  accepted, at the Venue in Southern California. All of us on the Management Team are disappointed of course, but this will not deter us. I can speak for all of us involved, that we totally believe that  this package show---was one of the best Entertainment Events around.

If any of you have  "Contacts" that you think might help get this  Show off the ground, let me know. I will then pass on the information to the others.

Thanks for all your support.

The Madeira: Carpe Noctem CD & East Coast Tour Dates

Here we go - our second full-length album "Carpe Noctem" will be officially released on Tuesday, May 27th!  It will be initially available exclusively through Double Crown Mail Order (dblcrown.com) - and soon after that you'll be able to find it pretty much everywhere. It's taken a lot of hard work to get this CD out and we very much hope you will like what you hear - we love it!

We also hope you like our new website: themadeira.net.  At the moment it looks very similar to our old one, but it's got a lot more bells and whistles that we will take advantage of in the future.  The best thing is that there is new content: two new downloadable songs from "Carpe Noctem"; great photos from our March Indy show; a new t-shirt now available for purchase; and complete information for all our upcoming summer shows (plus some nifty fliers!).

Speaking of shows, our East Coast trek is in only six days! Washington, DC, Asbury Park, NJ and New York, NY, joined by some of the finest surf bands around today (see Shows for all the details). It's our first time playing on the East Coast as a band, and we can't wait.  The bonus for those that come to the gigs is that we expect to have advance copies of "Carpe Noctem" available for sale - you can be among the first people in the world to have the new Madeira CD! Looking beyond this short tour, we will have an Indy CD release show in late June, and then we return to SoCal for a whirlwind three-day tour in early August.  Lots of activity ahead (by our standards, anyway!), and we sincerely hope to see many of you during all these travels.

Have a great summer, and enjoy our new CD!
