This was my first guitar. My parents bought it for me in 1978 (used). I've never seen another one until I started searching the internet yesterday. I didn't realize they had any value. I don't play it much anymore, but I hang on to it because it's so unique. Now I'm thinking I should make a youtube video of it. Here are some pics I took a few years ago. It's pretty much all stock. I had it refretted with 6105's in the mid-90s. The bridge pickups are wired in series, so the middle position of the P/U selector switch gets you all 3 P/Us and a cool chimey, jangley sound. The neck feels small & narrow to me, but it specs out very close to my 94 Strat Plus.

Anyone know if this is the same guitar referred to above way back in 2008?

@ Phostenix You should definatly make a video yours is amazing it's mint and yellow !!!
I am hunting for one quite a while but never win any auction but the hunt is still on !!
That german guitar is still the same as the one from 2008, its way overpriced, if they ask $1000 It would sell, and maybe I would even bought it.
But from my experience the going price is around $800 if they are mint

Thanks for the photos Phostenix, you don't see a lot of those in that condition.

I wouldn't call it mint, it has some scratches here & there, but it's in pretty good shape for a 40 year old guitar. Very Happy It's a WHOLE lot nicer than that orange atrocity that sold for $565US recently. Shocked I'm not sure if people noticed that even the bridge had been changed out on that guitar.

I have to get some cables so that I can record the output of my amp into the computer & than I'll make some videos (I hate camcorder audio videos). I'm no surf player, but at least I can do some show & tell.

This is pretty funny, someone has an SGV-800 on ebay with an opening bid of $1000, $1500 buy it now! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230512119910

I saw that too and laughed, but I guess you can't blame someone for trying. There's even one just like my blue 800 already at $480 with 2 more days to go:

It also has THIS:

  • 22 Fret rosewood fingerboard . Goes up to a high C# so you can hit the high note when you play Pink Floyd's " Time ". Many guitars only have 21 or fewer frets.

There is also a egv on ebay starting bid $89 5 days to go

From the ad: "If you're after a unique looking guitar to stand out from the crowd, this is out."

btw. the fact that the other bad condition banana went for $ 565 is probably because of me
and the collector of vintage guitar bidder (I saw it in his history on ebay that he bought 4 other vintage guitars this month)
I kept bidding and every 5 seconds after my bid I got outbit by the same person
(same thing with the japanese yellow sg2-c which was posted earlier)

Wow! The blue SGV Baby... ah, Barbie is supersweet! Very funny!!!
Ive noticed that theres also a market for miniature guitar models.
Even in the 60`s there were sought after miniature models from Guyatones and others.

Twang cheers!
