I scored these at a garage sale yesterday. $1.50 for the bunch!
Man, that's what I would call a score! Especially the Rhythm Rockers and Dick Dale LPs at such a price.
And thanks for the nice words on our new CD! We've been long time into those different instro styles and could have easily just recorded all the songs under the Surfites name, but thought it would be much cooler to form stand-alone side projects for each style instead.

No kidding! I don't think I've ever even seen the Rhythm Rockers one for anything less than collector's prices. Nice find, Scott!

whoa. I go to garage sales almost every weekend but hardly find anything like that (but of course, I live in Louisiana). Whenever I find something even close to as good of a deal as that, I start looking over my shoulder and trying to check out as soon as possible, as if another record collector is going to mug me for them

This is a very cool site. I'm not a player yet, but was very inspired after seeing Los Straitjackets this past July. They did a version of the Bar-Kays "Soul Finger" that was just great. It made me go find "Spies Like Us" to watch as soon as possible!
Anyhow here's what I've been listening to lately...
BB King
Easy Listening Blues

Al Caiola
Bonanza! 1960-1969

V/A
Wrinkles: Classic and Rare Chess Instrumentals

I've made a few ringtones from the Al Caiola CD. Great stuff!!

Dead Mans Curve/The New Girl in School - Jan & Dean
Drag City - Jan & Dean
Ride the Wild Surf - Jan & Dean
Little Duce Coupe - The Beach Boys
The Ventures Christmas Album

I know the Nazi's look down their nose at some of these but I dig'em.

I'm probably the biggest trad nazi on this forum and really like all these albums. It's usually the open-minded progressive surf fans that doesn't like the kind of albums you listed.

And some of us like all kinds of surf and surf-related or surf-inspired music. There's room for everybody. And if you don't like the way somebody butters his bread, let it go. Life's too short to worry about unimportant things like what somebody else eats for lunch or what kind of guitar they play. Can't we all just get along?

I know there are exceptions and that's why I used the word "usually".

Just got the new release from The Eliminators. Sounds good, although it isn't as peppy as their previous two releases.

I did get the latest Surfites CD a while back. It's as good as the other releases (maybe even better). Definitely one of my fave surf bands, or should I say, four of my fave bands.

I liked the concept & thought they pulled it off very well.

Yeah, cool concept. I've been digging on this one for the past few weeks. Good work, Klas!

As The Dark Wave Swells - The Bambi Molesters
I've got 3 more coming from Double Crown, but this new one from our Croatian friends is just brilliant.
