Snagged the Dr. Legume 7" single, plus a few LPs I had on CD:

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I did get the latest Surfites CD a while back. It's as good as the other releases (maybe even better). Definitely one of my fave surf bands, or should I say, four of my fave bands.

Rev

I liked the concept & thought they pulled it off very well.

Yeah, cool concept. I've been digging on this one for the past few weeks. Good work, Klas!

Thanks guys!

As for myself, I recently got the Thom Starr & The Galaxies anthology put out by Sundazed. Great stuff and highly recommended for any fans of the original surf music sound.

Also just ordered the new Rumblers collection recently released on Ace. Only a few overlaps with the earlier and now out of print Garland Records 23-tracks collection titled Boss. This new one promising to be just as boss as well!

Klas,
can you post a pic or list of the songs from the 2 separate Rumblers cds
please?

I have 2 different red ones, and there is almost no overlap except for a few songs.

I'm thinking the one you just got is a re-issue of one of them I have,
but would like to confirm.

thanks

I only knew about the Boss collection which is indeed red.

The new Ace release is not a reissue of any earlier collection but could of course contain songs from the other red one you mentioned.

T H E ✠ S U R F I T E S

when I first saw the 2nd red one I got, I thought it was the same as the first one, but it wasn't same picture, but different label, and different songs,
it was used, and only like 4 or 5 bucks.
so I got it.

Now I need to dig it out, and compare them.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I think there's three Rumblers releases with that same red cover - the original LP, the Surf label boot of the original, and then the DCC comp CD which has a lot of stuff not on the original album.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I think one of mine may be a Rhino or Sundazed release,
but am not positive.

I need to dig thru mountains of cds to find it.

I just got Savage Iceland by Burt Rocket. I am digging this one a lot. I'm on my second listen in two days and liking it better and better with every song.

The Storm Surfers

Be at one with the universe. If you can't do that, at least be at one with your guitar.

My order from Double Crown came yesterday.

Frankie & The Poolboys
The Madeira - Sandstorm
The Bambi Molesters - Sonic Bullets
Pollo Del Mar - The Golden State

Been through each one once, so far.
Man, this is some GOOD stuff!!!

I almost included that Burt Rocket release with my order. I'll have to do that next time.

Mark

There are no wrong notes, just some questionable choices.

I went to a Vinyl sale a couple weeks back, there were about 60 vendors there. This show is here in Denver twice a year.

I came home with these. There was alot of stuff I left behind due to lack of funds and there was no way I was going to drop 110 bucks on a "Surfin Bird" LP no matter how much I would like to have a Trashmen piece.
To my suprise there was not a single Dick Dale LP to be had and the guy running the show even asked on the loud speaker if anyone had any.

This one made my day!!!

image

The prices were all over the board on this one one guy had stuff sorted as "Surf Music". he had this at 100 bucks sure the cover was cleaner than the one I got but not 85$ worth.

image

I now have one...

image

There was a ton of Ventures stuff, but I didn't have this one yet.

$110 for Surfin' Bird? Either that's extortionate or someone on this forum owes me $95. Laughing

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Yea I think it was a little high even if the jacket was pristine, you could tell the vinyl had been played more than a few times unlike the 100$ "Lonely Surfer" LP it looked new as the day it was pressed!

I don't think the guy even know's about SG101 most of his stuff was either the Fab Four or that dang long hair trippy hippy stuff... you know like the Turtles Razz

Whoot! Whoot! Look what the mailman left today. Another Double Crown special delivery - Thanks Sean!

From the Double Crown Black Friday sale:

Great album! I first heard this at Niki & Lorenzo's place and new I had to have it.

image

One of my favourite bands. Great guitar tone.

image

Fun ep from the Japanese Kaisers.

image

More fun on vinyl. Very cool pre-surf sounding instro, and ok vocal track (the vocals are not my cup of tea)

image

Must have Xmas comp! Get all 3.

Still waiting on the Thunderchiefs one to arrive, but I dig the Burt Rocket album - especially the first couple of songs. Most of the comp LP is on the Surf Guitars Rumble CD. It's hit or miss, but it's definitely worth it for the killer songs.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Warren,
when and where did that last LP come from?
never heard of it/seen it.
