More Ventures:

I think I now got more or less the albums I want by the Ventures (about a dozen or so).

T H E ✠ S U R F I T E S

Diamondheads - Diamond Head at Dusk. Quality modern surf. Good musicianship and recording quality. Cool tunes. Their first CD was outstanding and this one doesn't disappoint at all. "Madagascar Intrigue" is my current favorite on the CD. I wished these guys would make an appearance in the Midwest so I could check 'em out live. Also CD baby delivered it within 3 days of ordering. Can't beat that.

The Ventures 'On Stage'
The Astronauts 'Rarities'

Making up for lost time, I receive 4 CDs in yesterday's mail.

Space Cossacks - Interstellar Stomp
Space Cossacks - Tsar Wars
Beat Tornados - Scandinavian Interlude
Kilaueas - Mundaka Calls

Bonus: Krontjong Devils 45rpm - Sizzling Sampan

"With great reverb comes great responsibility" - Uncle Leo

Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta

Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party

Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF

I just got the 2 Richie Allen CDs in the mail today, and have spun them 2 times each. The sound of the discs is very cool. If I remember correctly, he played directly into the board, with no amp? The drums sounds are really nice, especially on the first CD.

I got Destroy All Astro-Men in the mail today. So awesome.

Best of Dick Dale (thanks for the suggestion Ivan)
Lost Legends of Surf Guitar IV; Shockwave
The Madeira RUINS
Kahuna Kawentzmann THE TIKI & THE GUITAR

It's a good month.

I really like Lost Legends 4. The Avengers VI tracks alone make it worth the money, in my opinion.

Now The 'Verb record is going to get buried under Man or Astro-Man?

Now The 'Verb record is going to get buried under Man or Astro-Man?

Is the Verb cd available?
did I miss the mention of it being for sale?

if you can have one ready by the Pilgrims show in Seatle I'll buy one from you there, Jake.

I just sent John a burned copy since he has been a good myspace fan of The 'Verb.

We won't have any before the Pilgrims show. Which sucks. We need to get this record out ASAP. Anybody want to sign us?

No way. If anything, they've been played the same. Actually I'm listening to your CD right now. Looks like The 'Verb is out in front!

I just bought Locked and Loaded by The Penetrators.

I finally picked up Surfer's Choice by DD on Sundazed,
and Richie Allen's Surfers Slide. cool to have them official with all the liner notes and bonus tracks, but not must haves lots of filler IMHO.
I also got the Rat Holic cd. There are 4 or 5 songs on there that I really like, I wish the whole thing was like the songs I like. Oh well, it was the last Double Crown cd I needed to get, and I saw it at Bionic records.

Got some vinyl too:
a 45 by the Scuba Men, its a vocal surf project with Johnny Bartlett,
the 2 vocals songs are Scuba Dooba Baby, and Sea Greens.

2 Mono Men LP's "Skin and Tonic" & "Wrecker" never heard of or saw these albums before. mostly originals, mostly garagey vocals.

and a LP by a band I haven't heard of. THey are
the Introducers, and the LP is called "Close ups"
the sticker said Itallian surf garage, for fans of the Phantom Surfers, or Man or Astroman. couple good songs, but no where near either of those 2 bands mentioned. I'd pass if I could have heard it before hand.

also I got about 10 exotica lp's and 8 cds.

I've noticed a common theme here. Almost all the CD listed are either first wave or 90's releases. Anyone purchasing CD by anything originally releases in the last few years?

I ordered the Man or Astroman DVD, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Some other people have posted some fairly recent stuff: Kahuna Kawentzmann, Madeira, Rat Holic, Meshugga Beach Party, etc.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I just got Surfing Through A Creepy Castle by MFM. That's pretty recent.

I am anxiously awaiting The Diamondheads new CD. Other than that, in the last year, I got the new Ghastly Ones, PDM's Year of the Rooster, The Whys CD, The All-Nighters (which isn't 100% surf, but good instro), The new Kilaueas, and others I'm sure I've forgotten -- I think it boils down to the fact that discs seem to come out in waves. I know there are a few new CDs that I'm eagerly waiting to get my hands on.
