Ditto on Marc Ribot. Also Tom Verlaine and Al DiMeola.

Scotty Moore, James Burton, Jimmy Page, George Harrison, Joe Pass, Steve Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore...

Frank Zappa but it's too late. Failing that James Burton.

East Bay Ray does actually have a surf album with Jumbo Shrimp, quite disappointing.

The Squares - 1995-2002
The Mystery Men? - 2012-
MOONBASE - 2012-2017
The KBK - 2017-2022
The Frigidaires 2021-
Southern Surf Stomp!

Man..so many really..right now I'm thinking Ray Gomez

My vote goes to James Mankey of Concrete Blonde.Yes James released a solo album about a decade ago that tapped into his tropical island Davie Allan, but he'd totally bringing when it comes to surf.Dusty Watson used to play for CB back in the 90's,or was the late 80's? and I'm sure he'd have my back on this one.

Very good choice, Brandon. I am a Concrete Blonde fan dating back to the late 80's and have always admired his unusual style in relation to the music they played. I never got the opportunity to hear his solo album.

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

Ouch. I just looked it up. Not at all what I had hoped for.

Kirk Hammet of Metallica,
he did some cool spaghetti inspired stuff on the song "Unforgiven"

and some middle eastern sounding riffs on "wherever I may Roam"

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Never would've thought of Kirk. When I first read this thread, my immediate thoughts were country shredders...Not necessarily these dudes:

Brent Mason and Albert Lee, but even Vince Gill

My very first thought was Brad Paisley.

Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre one of the finest English rock players never to get a mention on the forum. There, I've mentioned him and I feel better for it!

Steve Stevens (Billy Idol)

Jack Booth
(aka WoodyJ)

The Mariners (1964-68, 1996-2005), 2025
The Hula Hounds (1996-2000)
The X-Rays (1997-2004)
The Surge! (2004, 2011-2012)
Various non-surf bands that actually made money
(1978-1990)

I've always wished Neil Young would do an all intro album using the sound he got on "Like a Hurricane".

"Hello Girls!"
