Jeez, a lot of posts here; apologies if this one has gone around already and I missed it: I long for some surfy Jim Campilongo.

SSIV

Mike McCready and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam. They did a fun little surf-inspired track called "Gremmie Out Of Control" on their rarities album and i thought it was great Very Happy

I just got back home from a trip across the HUDSON RIVER from JERSEY CITY, N.J.

Made a trek out there to catch the cool band BONGO SURF www.myspace.com/bongosurf

Sitting in with them was legendary guitarist CARLOS ALOMAR!!!

He clearly knew the songs, the melodies, of some classic vintage surf, and he used his 'pedals' to the max, pulling off some great 'effects'!! no disappointments tonight, that's fior sure!!

{you gotta check out his discography on his MySpace site -- www.myspace.cn/guitarlos1}

special thanks and a shout-out to Paul and Patty of the TarantinosNYC who were there, too; they were kind enuf to give me a ride back to NYC via the Holland Tunnel

Am I really the first in the thread to say Eric Johnson. Wow, I'm surprised...

But really, that man is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. He's done a few surf-inspired songs, and I thought they were great. It'd be a thrill to hear him dive into the surf genre for a song a two.

and do some killer surf...would that be "turboroykswerk" ?

Would be alot of norwegians on that stage. Big Razz
The guitarplayer (Knut Schreiner aka Euroboy) of Turbonegro has his roots in a surf/guitar-instro band called Kåre and the Cavemen who later changed their name into Euroboys.

Euroboys 1998-, live clips, interviews etc.. SKIP TO 03:00 and 08:10 for music.

I had 3 tied : Eric Gales, Johnny Hiland and Joe Bonamassa. I think surf would push them all out of their comfort zone a bit. but there be chops galore between 'em.

Jim Campilongo has already been nominated here, but he'd be my choice too. With his Telecaster, Princeton amps, and love of reverb, he's halfway to surfdom already. How would he work all those tone swells and bending into a surf tune? That would be amazing to hear.

original compositions (low-level demo stuff /out of tune, etc) myStuff not my best, but i don't like to be in a musician community without anything to show

as I remember, Campilongo has a more surfish track with the 10 gallon cats, but I don't find it

Jeff Beck

Darrel Higham. Guitarist for Imelda May who has played with Jeff Beck.
Great player I love his sound one of my recent favorites.

Here you go. Not surfy, but hotter than hell!

I have to second the requests for East Bay Ray and Johnny Marr.

Brian Setzer had one surfy track on his InstruMental album from a few years back called Go Go Godzilla...

I also wouldn't mind hearing Thurston and the rest of Sonic Youth attempt a few surfy tracks, as they would surely be quite interesting.

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

Robert Fripp -- he got kind of close (or at least as close as he could get) on the League of Gentlemen album.

Brian Setzer, all he would have to do is swap the Gretch for a Jaguar (he already uses a Fender Bassman amp) and he is set to surf!

'Surf Music Lasts Forever'

My vote is for Richard Thompson, who is playing electric on tour again lately.

We got a taste of Richard playing surf (with Jerry Donahue) on the 1986
Fairport Convention instro album Expletive Delighted! (Recommended!).

The album features a Shadows medley called Hanks For The Memory:
Shazam / Pipeline / Apache / Peter Gunn

Surf or not you can always count on something interesting from Richard...

My vote goes to James Mankey of Concrete Blonde.Yes James released a solo album about a decade ago that tapped into his tropical island Davie Allan, but he'd totally bringing when it comes to surf.Dusty Watson used to play for CB back in the 90's,or was the late 80's? and I'm sure he'd have my back on this one.

Reverb, It's A Way Of Life!

Los Lobos, Marc Ribot, Reeves Gabrels, Adrian Belew, and Scott Ian. The last 3 would be interesting to hear on a Jazzmaster, reverb tank, and Showman.

Reeves played on Upstart's comp Beyond the Beach with Tin Machine. Not very trad, as one would suspect.
And then there was Anthrax's cover of Pipeline from Attack of the Killer B's
