New member here. So, I've been wanting a Surfy Bear for a while, and finally pulled the trigger. It's in the mail, and I can't wait. Quick question while I wait, though. I know the standard tank for these units has the grounding on the output. Does it matter, or can the ground be on the input side? One other question. Based on reading through the 64 pages, it sounds like you can use any standard LED without a resistor coming off the board. Or, you could do a 12V lamp connected directly to the power souce/switch. Am I understanding that correctly? Thanks for any help you can give! |

Welcome to the forum Single_fin! If you want to use a Led as power-on indicator you must add a series resistor! Good luck with your build! |

I just ordered my second kit. As of now I will house it in a pedal stowed in the back of my TR and use the original TR pan. Running in stereo meant that I needed two separate Fetverbs. The onboard R circuit of the twin is just not as good as the SB. —The Kahuna Kings https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kahuna-Kings/459752090818447 |

Got the Surfy Bear package in the mail on Monday. Soldered Monday evening, made the chassis Tuesday evening, and it all works! Using a short 2 spring medium-decay reverb at the moment. Box coming this weekend... |

I haven't even made the box yet, and I love it. Signal chain was tele > Surfy Bear > Quilter 101 (Full Q setting) > Eminence 10-30 > Pro37 on axis pointed at the cone. No compression or effects on the individual lead track. Most of the other tracks are dry at this point too. Last edited: Oct 06, 2016 15:41:02 |

After having built a 6G15 unit and surfmaster-modding two amps I was really curious. Best see you at monokinibeach |

Thanks. I really dig seeing everyone's newest versions. Such creative folks here at SG101! A lot of inspiration and encouragement on this thread. Before this i didn't know how to solder, now I thoroughly enjoy having the ability to make SurfyBears, change guitar pick-ups, and do simple fixes on my gear. Extremely rewarding. I'm grateful to Björn for making an irresistibly cool kit that sort of forced me to learn to solder.
Seems there are quite a few technicians and hobbyists here that've put together the kits. You may want to start by offering a price you think would be fair for assembly. Last edited: Oct 09, 2016 13:55:33 |
