It's Mom!

I'm gonna need a bigger media budget! And a hotel room. I better get to it.

Tuck, Noel, Carol, everybody: I'm still trying to work out a deal with the Hampton Inn; I finally got a hold of the person that does group rates; right now we're haggling on a price. Cross your fingers, and hopefully I'll have a deal that's compatible with last year's arrangement at the University Inn.

We're hanging tight on the housing. JD just wanted to lock in a good airfare. It's about $250 from Denver at the moment. Almost couldn't afford not to come. Me, I typically start looking into things more like a month before.

Hotel Update:

I hate to air dirty laundry, but the Hampton Inn folks are being difficult at the moment. I'm working on a Plan B.

Noel has promised to kidnap me and bring me along. After all, I'll be living out there!

Matt, you rat, I was hoping you'd relocate to Colorado!

I am certified in Colorado as well and I was planning on moving in the summer, because that's when the jobs open up. However, this position was open and they wanted to fill it immediately. It's not common to move mid-year to a new school, but that's how it worked out. Incidentally, there was a job that I turned down in January in Colorado because it was in a tourist town and too far from Denver.

Sorry for off-topic, but I am looking forward to meeting a lot of you on the east coast.

Crispy, offer them a surf show in their parking lot. Or threaten them with it. Whichever works.

Are you still living the song "Too Much to Dream"?

Okay, this took way longer than I planned, but I finally have an official hotel for the Instro Summit, the Duke Tower Hotel. It's an extended stay joint with a kickass pool, and practically stumbling distance from the Casbah (if you don't mind stumbling for a few blocks).

Here's their website:

http://duketower.com/rates.html

Currently I have a rate of 88 bucks per night, but if we get more than 14 rooms booked for the whole weekend (and they count it as one room per night, so if you're there for the weekend, that's three rooms), it goes down to 83 bucks, and even lower if we get more than 27 nights. Right now, I have 14 doubles (they have king size bed rooms as well) being held under "Instro Summit" through April 3rd. (after that, they go back to the general public, and we lose any discounts we may have gotten). Either call and tell them the Instro Summit sent you, reserve a room online and put "Instro Summit" in the special needs box.

Oh--one more thing: Don't reserve a room until after 5pm today--they're still putting in all the paperwork for this rascal, and they told me it could take all afternoon.

Sweet. We can get rooms on Valentine's Day.

And I'm registered!

Some good news: The folks at Utz have decided to sponsor us after all. The year's supply of chips is once more up for the taking!

--Crispy

I'm registered too. Couldn't my book room online. Their system has (or had) made the block of Instro Summit reserved rooms unavailable, but calling was no problem.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Just made my reservation... (by phone) very easy and they even new what I was talking about when I said " Instro Summit" !!

Dirk Kahuna just wrote me asking about some of the details of the Instro Summit, and one of things I gave him was links to all of our other pages. I figure the rest of y'all might want to take a gander too, so here they is:

Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Instro-Summit/106578046087152

You Tube:

Each one serves a purpose; The Facebook page is the most watched, My Space lets me have music from the bands playing, plus a blog section to talk about further details. You Tube has videos of course, and Google Plus...well, it's there for people who hate Facebook.

Got my ticket for the weekend!

Stacy

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is one band that I'm particularly interested in seeing (yes, I'll be there) and it's Eddie Katchers Astronauts tribute. I happen to know that Eddie has assembled the finest perveyors of The Astronauts sound he could find from all over the US.
