Well, I'm looking forward to that too now. And yep you can't use the Web interface to register for the Duke Tower. The room block is reserved apart from it and it seems to have all of the available rooms, because the system just responds that no rooms of any kind are available when you try to use it. You have to call. They do know what Instro Summit is. And they are very helpful. They even called me, based on an email inquiry. Counting on my fingers, reflecting on the number of out of towners last time, and comparing it all to the number 14, I conclude that if you want a room at this place, you shouldn't waste any time reflecting about it, even though it is still about 10 weeks away. I think they must be down about a third of the block of 14 rooms already. |

Phoo! Neither BTD or Unsteady Freddie seem to be able to make my festival. Oh well--maybe next year. In the meantime, things are eerily quite at Instro Summit Central; I'm courting food trucks for the Lunch Jam, and awaiting both Jason Lonon's poster/postcard design for this year's promo stuff, as well as replies from the bands from the letter I sent back on the 2/16. If you haven't replied to it yet, get on it, folks! --Crispy Last edited: Feb 27, 2013 14:31:47 |

Guys/Gals and everyone inbetween, I plan on coming down to see everyone, and hopefully get my jets recharged by the hellacious, driving surf sounds I heard the last time I attended. (Oh well, always a bridesmaid, never the.... ) I'm working on starting a new surf/beach project here in Maryland (Annapolis area), so contact me if interested. Have a great show! Art's band isn't the only one that just dropped out; Gravitron had to bow out for almost identical reasons. Filling the new time slots? Three bands are in the running: The Krektones, Thee IcePicks, and Crazy Aces. The Kreks have first refusal, and they are awaiting word from their horn player, who's currently out of the country at the moment. Stay Tuned. --crispy |

Well, so much for that plan! Turns out NONE of the bands in the running for our empty slots can play the Summit afterall; seems a few of them forgot to check w/their bandmates and calendars before they said yes. Back to the drawing board... --Crispy |

Don't forget about Beware the Dangers of a Ghost Scorpion up in Boston.Hell, there is a chance that This Machine Kills Robots up in Canada might be willing to make the trek. Thanks Noah but Crispy was already gracious enough to offer us a spot, I was all jacked up about being part of this (and I thought the band was too) but it turns out that there are schedule conflicts. —http://www.facebook.com/CrazyAcesMusic |

I'm sorry all three bands couldn't make it. Add The Rebel Surfers and my happiness would be complete. I'm sure the bands who do jump in to fill the gaping void (now there's a band name!) will be terrific. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. Latest Update: The Sunday slot--I think--has been filled. The Saturday slot, amazingly, is still open. I hope to have it filled by the weekend, but I've also got gigs Friday Saturday, and Sunday, so it may take longer than I hoped. --Crispy |

El Capitan and the Band With No Name may be an option for Saturday, with El Cap and a couple of Intoxicators backing. Might work out perfectly. I (Gary of The Intoxicators) am doing bass duty for El Cap, and the songs are awesome. — |

Okay, FINALLY the open slots are filled: The 6pm Saturday slot is now Arrows Out, a local band from Durham, who play what they call "Spaghetti Shoegaze', which isn't a bad description. Here's a link to their Band Camp page (I recommend "Heist" on their play list) http://arrowsout.bandcamp.com/ Taking over the Sunday slot will be Dayton, Ohio's TEAM VOID, who look like they'll be a mess of fun, if not a mess of people. In the meantime, a mysterious large package just arrived from Philadelphia... --Crispy |

Two guesses about the large package from Philly. 1) DiPinto Guitar. 2) Utz pretzels. Am I close? —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

Team Void are top notch. One of the members actually did a stint in The Breeders back in the early 2000's. —THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary. www.thekbk.com |

To anybody planning on staying at The Duke Tower Hotel, I'd suggest securing a room pronto. Big place but available rooms are going fast. The more Instro Summit folks that stay there the cheaper the rates btw. — |
