Love that Creations tune, been listening to it tons of times since Morphball posted it last month in here Big Grin Big Grin Laughing

-Damon.

Here's a band from Argentina covering Mr. Moto, and adding their own spin on it as well.

-Damon.

How's about one from the twilight of surf? The Runabouts, with a former member of The Emeralds on lead guitar.

-Damon.

The screaming sounds like something recorded at an amusement park and added to the record.

Always dug that wild version of Miserlou by The Roemans. Gotta love those screaming chicks going nuts. What the heck were those guys doing!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Ok so all the hip cats n kittens are gonna know this one,
but I bet its a lost treasure to some.

Nice pick BTD, gotta love the Trashmen! And coincidentally, Music Mike is the same cat who played the Zircon's (whose song I posted earlier on the board in a different thread and this thread), amazingly I never thought to check and see if he'd posted any other surf videos, so kool find. So how's about 3 different versions of the same song, starting off with the original cover.

-Damon.

i was kinda hoping the one with the bird would be an animated version of 'the bird'

That would've been pretty rad.

-Damon.

Here's some cartoon surf and a french bands cover of Surf Beat to give this thread a bump.

-Damon.

Have we mentioned The Original Surfaris yet? I think so, but I've lost track by now. Nevertheless, here's a live version of their tune "Moment of Truth". Like I mentioned in the recent Original Surfaris thread, this live performance is true testiment to how great these youngsters were live and why teens used to dance to surf music! Enjoy..

Love those Trashmen . . . . thanks for posting up!

'Surf Music Lasts Forever'

The title of the next Roger Corman movie, you ask? Nope.

I thought it would be cool to pay tribute to some lost, forgotten, or underappreciated gems from the dawn of surf music. We all know the giants, Dick Dale, PJ & The Belairs, Eddie & The Showmen, The Surfaris, The Lively Ones, The Chantays, The Pyramids, The Challengers. These were the groups that had the biggest impact on surf music. In 1963 instrumental surf music exploded on a nationwide level with the hits Pipeline by The Chantays and Wipe Out by The Surfaris.

But what about the teen titans who were there in the trenches from the beginning cutting sometimes only one 45 and disappearing forever? Or what about the pre-surf groups that paved the way on a grassroots level and produced some amazing records that became standards of the genre? This is a salute to them! Feel free to post your favorite!

Let me kick things off with a real surf stomper Ridin’ High by The Revelairs from the South Bay and Ali Baba by Dave & The Customs from Pomona, CA. Enjoy!

Its fun to listen and watch Brian's avatar band his head - seems to do it in time every few beats to the Revelaires song

Wow, thank you for this thread. I'm new to this forum, and just coming across this treasure trove of great surf. But, where's the Takeshi Terauchi? Not obscure enough?

He's Great, but it's Eleki, not Surf.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Just search for the word "Eleki" and you'll find a ton of great stuff there.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

The Toads got some discussion and links elsewhere pretty recently, but I think they deserve to be in this thread also.

The Chevells "Let There Be Surf"

Compare below to The Blazers "Bangalore" posted earlier by Norm.

Thanks to Pandora for turning me onto Heatwave, and then through the magic of youtube's recommended viewing, Strange Fever.

-Damon.

Pandora brought up another interesting one this evening. Can't find a shred of info on this group, outside of them being a part of a comp called Girls Girls Rockin'- Volume 6. They might not actually be from the surf heyday, sounds more likely that they were a pre-surf instrumental band, but still a pretty kool tune in my opinion at least.

-Damon.

Are there any good places to find the guitar tabs for these lesser known surf songs? I did a search on places like ultimate guitar etc, but they don't have much. Suggestions?
