Coffin Daggers and Destination: Earth! both on Friday as well? Holly Hell, what a great lineup the first night has turned out to be. I have wanted to see Destination: Earth! for years now and will finally get my opportunity. Coffin Daggers, Madeira, Mystery Men? ect. go without saying. —THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. Me too. I've driven by on 95 many times, but don't know anything about the area. I'll take all the advice I can get. I'll book a room today if I can, from Thurday night through Sunday night. Help? ravcon wrote: — This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

Crispy usually does a check on motel costs and puts it out for everyone to see what's available. That Goodness Dude is a good guy. ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

No shortage of decent lodging nearby in Raleigh, Durham and along I40. Not so much "IN" Chapel Hill though. — |

Many questions to answer:
We've got two basic hotel choices: In town (where all hotels cost too dam' much, IMHO), we've got the University Inn, where you can get the discounted "Cave Rate" , which last year was around 75 bucks. I'm pretty sure you could negotiate a better rate than that--rooms at Elvisfest were going for 60 bucks or less just two weeks ago, and Summit is booked in that boring week right after finals but before graduation. Our good friends from Storrs, CT, Nesma founders and musicians in 9th Wave, the Rosados, have also hosted a Saturday afternoon Tiki cocktail and jam session at this hotel during Summit time--always a ton of fun. The other place I recommend is the Microtel in nearby Hillsborough. Great rooms, and the manager has given me a special "Instro Summit" rate every year for around 45 bucks. You can't get drunk and take a taxi to it, however, which you can do at the previously mentioned joint.
Sorry, Noah--The Coffin Daggers are playing the Summit Saturday. Maybe you can find some excuse to hang out longer. Oh, and Mom Surfing: You may well retire as the undefeated "I'm Branded" contest champ. The Cave is having legal squabbles with BMI, which means that this year, The "I'm Branded" contest, the Rumble Jam, and (it kills me to say this) Phatlynx will not be at the Summit this year. --Crispy PS--latest folks to join the fun? The Rebel Surfers and Thee Icepicks--both on Sunday. Last edited: Jan 14, 2012 19:54:32 |

Thanks for all the great info. Really too bad about the jams. Are there any alternatives? CrispyGoodness wrote: — This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

Well, it should be a great time. It sucks to hear about BMI. Although I have had problems with them and ASCAP in the past. Coffin Daggers is cool...I believe we are supposed to hook up with them in New York a few nights later. And I really do wish we could stick around for the other nights. However, we have two festival dates and decided it would be best to book a complete tour while we had a good excuse...We have 11 days and plan on hitting 11 cities...woohoo —THE KBK ...
