Pyro those look really sweet. I would actually give those a try, but I don't think they give any buying info on the dunlop page.

paul, you need the URL of the picture itself, and put those inbetween image codes (or blockselect the url and use the img-button over the post-box) Rules to live by #314: |

I had a Dava Control pick once, but found that it wasn't much different than using a medium-to-heavy pick, as I tend to choke up on my picks more when I play leads and then slide back a bit on it if I want to open it up for rhythm a bit. Neptune Tom, didn't you say that you used and liked these ones? ~B~ |

I think there are too many fancy picks out there which takes the focus off the tone of the pick. Play faster and more accurate without practice or sound better and play faster and more accurately with practice? That is the choice offered with these fancy picks. This is pure hypocrisy by myself as I choose tortex picks because I play better with them although there are several other brands I feel sound much better. |

I just fount this thread! Dang Bill you have a great memory! I don't use them exclusively any more. Dava picks were like training wheels for double picking, at least for me, I found it much easier to get clean notes at speed. The stiffness of these picks vary quite a bit and would get softer over time. The best ones were new and a tad stiffer. They are easy to grip for sure. Now I look for something that is med to heavy. Current favorite is the Clayton .72mm they are a yellow color and designed to mimic tortise (from what I was told). They really sound great for acoustic. A tad off topic, but I made a pick out of a chunk of elephant ivory. You can really get a string moving with one of those. Works for gypsy jazz sounds. —THe NEpTuNeS |

I recently came across Wegen picks ... they are handmade from some kind of surgical material, and they are practically indestructable. the true beauty of that is that the sides are bevelled (? right word) very pricisely and stay that way. the local shredder celebrity who works at my local store recommended them after we'd been chatting a bit and I mentioned playing surf. he gave me his pick (which he said he had for over two years) - edges looked like new - and let me play with it. OMG, like butter. I bought two 1.5 mm and have a 2.5mm on order, and it's just amazing. let's me play quite a bit faster and way more accurate, and it's just easier, like less force is needed. admittedly, I still prefer a trad more flexible pick for strummin' though it's completly possible withthese, and for picking I love them. It's a dutch company, but i saw on their site they have a decent amount of US retailers - if you happen to get close to one, try one out, you'll know in 20 secs if it's for you or not. they are damn pricey so they should let you test drive it, doesnt harm them either. —Rules to live by #314: |

Wow! There are some heavy picks in use compared to mine. My heaviest is some .50 Fender Anniversary ones but my normal ones are Jim Dunlop Delrin .46's. My lightest are .38's and darned hard to find anymore. But I have a good supply from 30 years ago...:) —Mel |

When I made my first ever flatpick purchase many months ago I picked up a whole bunch of different pink/purple Dunlops just because those were the only ones I could remember from this thread and immediately recognize. I eventually settled on these .96's myself. They get the job done. |

since MOSHAY has ceased production, the cat-tongue grip surface has a pretty cool feel, and they seem to grip the finger tip pretty good. anyone use HERCO? |

My pick choices have been evolving over the last few months. I started out with red (orange (0.6 mm) Tortex sharkfins: Then I got a Strat. Immediately tossed the factory-installed .09 strings for .11 to .50 flatwounds. The orange sharkfins were okay, but I got some orange and yellow (0.73 mm) triangles to try out... Decided I liked the big orange or yellow triangles marginally better, but sometimes I'd switch back to the yellow sharkfin. Thought I'd try getting a few yellow triangles today, with the notion of experimenting on them by sanding the tip down to a radius more like on the sharkfin tip. They didn't have any yellow triangles.
Funny you should say that. Tonight though, after trying them out, I think I like them as-is. I thought I'd have trouble keeping them from rotating in my grip, but that hasn't happened. They may become my favourite of the bunch. Who'da thunk it? —I'm not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing. |

Just tried out the Dunlop Ultex in .73 and 1.0 and I'm really digging these picks! I've been using Fender Mediums for a while, but these give a bit more control and have a much better feel IMHO. You can hear it in the drip Ryan |

I use Alice picks, they're cheap, pretty, durable and they come in packs of 24. 0.81mm's are my favorites! —Mr. Mogwai |
