Surf Shows >> Seattle >> Contact

Hey everybody, this is Joe Jabon from Banzai Surf.

I am going to be starting to set up some surf shows up here in Seattle this Summer.

If you know anyone who's planning on making the trek near these parts or would just like to lay the ground work for playing up here in Latteville, give me a buzz and I'll do what I can to help set things up with local clubs, bands and radio stations.

Thanx

Goodbye to The Sundogs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Robbie Allen Ditches ‘Sundogs’; Says Hello to ‘The Outer Edge’

Sacramento, CA – With the band’s one-year anniversary looming just months away, Robbie Allen along with his band mates Josh Hester and Gary Christensen, have announced that they will be dropping the current name of the band (“The Sundogs”) for a title that better portrays their image and style of music. The surprise announcement comes in the wake of a legal hang-up regarding the use of the band’s current name, already a registered trademark of a Berkeley, CA based roots rock group. “The Sundogs” name was originally coined by Gary Christensen after much deliberation between the band’s original members. Gary and Robbie have both stated that it was not their intention to infringe on the rights of the current trademark holders and, at that time they were unaware of the Bay Area group (who ceased from touring nearly ten years ago) that had seven major releases – some of which are still available at select retailers. The band’s recent move to the title “The Outer Edge” was mutually agreed upon by the members of the group after considering over two-hundred titles. The decision was based on legal advice from the band’s attorney. In response to an email, Robbie Allen commented from his apartment overseas: “We think that while the core theme of our music draws heavily on the instrumental guitar trends of the 60s including surf music, on the same token, our style is very versatile and constantly adapting to the melting pot of influences and creative whims common to all three members of our band, not to mention the people we collaborate with behind the scenes. I think the new name reflects the edgier-sounding ‘acid surf rock’ vibe that is beginning to define us more and more.” The band has also decided to maintain “Robbie Allen” as part of the group’s name so as to avoid confusion during the transition. More info can be obtained by sending an email to press@m3california.com.

Surfer Joe Summer Festival 2009 - 24, 25, 26 July - Livorno, Italy

The web site for the SJ Summer Festival 2009 is online!
As you can see there is still something missing, you know... last minute confirmations, other bands, exhibitors... but most of it is there.

www.surferjoemusic.com/festival

I hope to see some of you guys at the fest this summer, it will be amazing! We managed to put together a very nice line-up of bands and the exhibition will be bigger. On the web site you find some info about accommodation, but feel free to contact us for details.

Good vibes,
Lorenzo

New Double Crown Website & URL

After months of work, we're ready to launch the brand new Double Crown Records website!

Check it out at: www.doublecrownrecords.com

It has a bunch of features that we're really excited about. It's easy to integrate video and audio into the website, both on the front page and in blog posts. We are still using CCNow for order processing, so for all of you long-time customers that part of ordering with us will be the same as usual. The shopping area of the website is much easier to navigate than the old site, and every item has a cover scan and track listing (for CD's and 7"s). There are options to view 10, 20, 50 or all items on a page, and best of all, there is a search function, so you can enter a band name or keyword, and get a list of every CD, 7" and magazine that features that band or keyword. For example, search for "The Madeira" and you'll see all 3 Double Crown CD's, plus the 3 issues of The Continental magazine that they appeared on the CD comp.

I have gone through the site and looked for any mistakes or broken links, but if you find one drop me an e-mail at: records@dblcrown.com. I would also welcome any comments or criticisms about the new site.

The old URL, www.dblcrown.com , will continue to work indefinitely. I will update both sites for the next few months or so, until I know that the new site definitely works. At that point I will then redirect www.dblcrown.com to the new site, so both URLs will work.

It's a big step - I haven't really ever updated the look and functionality of the old site, and it shows!

Order from either site until March 31st and take 20% off any order over $20.00 using coupon code: MARCH20

Pollo del Mar in Europe in July & even more booking news...

This is the first news I can give regarding the US guests for the SJ Summer Festival. Pollo del Mar will come touring Italy and Germany - at least - on July. Dates range is between July 15 and July 26, with an appearance at the Surfer Joe Summer festival on Saturday 25. They are not the only band coming, but I will say more in the next days hopefully. For updates regarding the festival you will be able to look at www.surferjoemusic.com/festival, and I will post more about US touring bands. We will deal with other bands in the next months and 99% we will have Slacktone again on September, Surfaris on October. I will manage the Italian dates with Blitz Studio as usual. Plus we have already scheduled Vibrants (Spain), Barbwires (Sweden), Dead Rocks (Brazil). So, jump on the flight with Ferenc & Co. and come to the festival please...

Update on Nokie Edwards Concert in Santa Cruz

Hey gang, we wanted to remaind everyone of the upcoming show with Nokie Edwards (lead guitar of the Ventures as you all know). The Reefriders will open the show at 9:00p, you gotta see these guys, thier drummer Glen kicks some serious punk/surf butt. Robbie Allen and the Sundogs will be there doing their surf/psychedelic thing, and then Nokie will be performing an all-Ventures setlist, backed by Robbie and the Sundogs

Ticket price for the Nokie Edwards concert at the Brookdale Inn will be $20 but we've arranged for surfguitar101 members to get a discount if they buy online at the http://nokieedwards.eventbrite.com page.
Click on the button that says 'Discount Code' or something like that and type in "surfguitar101" and your ticket price drops to $15.

There will also be both an acoustic guitar drawing and an electric guitar drawing at the Nokie Edwards concert at the Brookdale Inn in March.
You can also buy tickets and keep up-to-date on the concert by going to http://www.m3california.com/brookdale
