One of my favorites is still that Hellbenders album. I'm still not big on the vocals, but the songs/guitar is enough to overcome that. They really nail the Spaghetti Western composition style.

I saw on the inside cover that the guitarist (you?) was using a PRS. I was surprised - really cool tones out that thing. I've always kind of associated PRS with dreadful blooze snooze stuff. Assuming you used it on the album a lot, I was pleasantly surprised.

I saw on the inside cover that the guitarist (you?) was using a PRS. I was surprised - really cool tones out that thing. I've always kind of associated PRS with dreadful blooze snooze stuff. Assuming you used it on the album a lot, I was pleasantly surprised.

I've been playing the PRS since 1995. I played about 75% of the leads with the PRS and the rest with my Tele Thinline. I used a combination of the PRS, Tele, and acoustic for the rhythm guitars.

It's all about the setup and amp. I play through an early '80s (May 1983 to be exact) Fender Concert amp with an EV speaker and a three-spring long reverb tank. The PRS is a very versatile guitar with a nice tremolo bar. It stays in tune like you would not believe. I can get lots of sounds with it. The humbuckers are enough to get me a crunch when playing chords, yet it stays nice and clean on single note playing. I've found that a Boss DS-1 distortion works great for fuzz with this rig.

I played lead with the PRS on all but one song on our new album (not a western album - more fuzz/spy/surf).

I met Paul Reed Smith at the Austin NAMM a few years ago, and he loved that I was playing surf/spaghetti on one of his guitars. I was hoping to squeeze an endorsement out of it, but no dice.
