Very Happy

One of my favorites is still that Hellbenders album. I'm still not big on the vocals, but the songs/guitar is enough to overcome that. They really nail the Spaghetti Western composition style.

I'm not much on vocals for that sort of music.

Only about half the songs have vocals, though.

I saw on the inside cover that the guitarist (you?) was using a PRS. I was surprised - really cool tones out that thing. I've always kind of associated PRS with dreadful blooze snooze stuff. Assuming you used it on the album a lot, I was pleasantly surprised.

I've been playing the PRS since 1995. I played about 75% of the leads with the PRS and the rest with my Tele Thinline. I used a combination of the PRS, Tele, and acoustic for the rhythm guitars.

It's all about the setup and amp. I play through an early '80s (May 1983 to be exact) Fender Concert amp with an EV speaker and a three-spring long reverb tank. The PRS is a very versatile guitar with a nice tremolo bar. It stays in tune like you would not believe. I can get lots of sounds with it. The humbuckers are enough to get me a crunch when playing chords, yet it stays nice and clean on single note playing. I've found that a Boss DS-1 distortion works great for fuzz with this rig.

I played lead with the PRS on all but one song on our new album (not a western album - more fuzz/spy/surf).

I met Paul Reed Smith at the Austin NAMM a few years ago, and he loved that I was playing surf/spaghetti on one of his guitars. I was hoping to squeeze an endorsement out of it, but no dice.

Well, both guitars sounded great, IMO. Thanks for the info.
