I like the Crazy Aces look...the association with cars/garage. Similar in spirit to Boss Fink, which I also dig.

Our band has been wearing Hawaiian shirts since the early 90's. We wore assorted vintage shirts from thrift stores at first, but soon we started buying matching shirts and even had some custom made. We added white pants about the same time. Two of our drummers were from Hawaii or have family there, so they were quite happy with the look. We get good feedback from the audience (the people we are playing for, remember them?). Many of the gigs we get are for Hawaiian or beach themed events, which are common here in southern California. I'm not sure when surf bands started wearing Hawaiian shirts, but I'm also not sure when surf bands (or any bands for that matter) began to dress so as to conform to the opinions expressed on internet forums. —If it ain't broke, fix it until it is. |

I have a question for those of you who wear the blazers, like the sparkly ones: where did you purchase them? We are looking at getting something a little warmer for the cooler summer days and winter gigs, like suits or something. Thanks! Oh and I completely agree with this: BJB wrote: — The SpeNerds |

I've started wearing a suit. Makes me feel more like a performer rather than some guy that got up to play. I read somewhere it shows resect for your audience to dress smartly, assuming you play in front of an audience that commands respect. Mainly though, the suit jacket ensure your sweat stains don't show, so you always look 'cool'. Plus, you look a lot better on the Facebook fotos. — |

I am a firm believer that distinct visuals go a long way towards both selling of instrumental music in a live setting and to maintaining the attention of an audience. While we have used some kind of unified outfits since day 1, last year we actually had uniforms designed. the photos don't really do them justice. But they are very militaristic.

We usually wear matching shirts. Hawaiian or other. I think it is important to look like you are a professional whenever possible. Plus it is easier to identify your band mates. Rev —Canadian Surf http://www.urbansurfkings.com/ Last edited: Sep 21, 2016 10:43:41 |

My old bandmate Mel Bergman (Phantom Surfers) assured me that if you all wear matching outfits people will automatically think you are twice as good as you really are. Last edited: Sep 21, 2016 12:15:51 |

I agree with Stormtiger...the art of illusion. We're not s surf band but 60s and wish to provide a visual too...and hide behind! |

As all the couch is my stage I frequently take a more casual approach to my band attire. This is a simulation only- typically I brush off the crumbs. Didn't know the camera was rolling. —Da Vinci Flinglestein, The Syndicate of Surf on YouTube |

Yes! That's us in our guise as "The Rockin' Bones." For the Halloween season we drop a bunch spooky garage rock into our set. So yes... Some singing must be done. Trust me... It's the scariest part of the whole thing! — www.instagram.com/_the.outer.limits_ |
