Those Vans are a bit late for surf.
Isn't there a surf band called The Spicolis? I hope they wear checkered Vans.

IF they made Spicolis Vans they would have to be smokin!
sorry... that scene where they fall out of the van after getting stoned kills me.

Those Vans are a bit late for surf.
From the Vans website:
The first official day of business was March 15, 1966, when the first Vans shoe store opened in Anaheim, California. They offered three styles of vans shoes on that first day, but had only made display shoes.
Try PF Flyers , Keds or Chuck Taylor Converse.
Yes I know, but I dont care for the look of Converse, et Al.
They are basket ball shoes.
Look at the Pic that Kyle posed of the kids looking at the Fender Guitars
with the Sales people, White Levi's and Vans.
Dont know the year, but they look so sharp, and go well.
Converse go with Phys Ed shorts and Gym's with hoops.

sorry just , , and a bit.

I don't care if a band has a uniform. For me, the clothes have to do with the presention and schtick of the band. I belive that their has to be more there onstage than just the music. Even if I am listening to great music I want a show. A uniform has nothing to do with that. My band does have uniforms we are called "Thee Swank Bastards" we wear the standard beatles, Blues Brothers, Resevoir Dogs. We don't need them but we never play a show without them on.

Garrett reminded me of this in the Jaguar thread. I think those are pullover sweaters with turtle necks underneath.

Oh yea!
I'm waiting for a surf (or other) band to come along with big, poofy, Hondells/Bobby Fuller style dry-look Pompadours!
Now that would be committment!
Come on, Aquachris? Bill? I'd do it, but I ain't got a band.
By the way, Bill. When you coming to Denver?

Thats HAIR?! I thought those were helmets.
That's a tough 'doo to sport all year around. I think I'll pass....
You need a band Garrett - perhaps a few songs with us soon? We could use the vocal help, and a 3rd guitar.
Yeah Bill, when are you coming to Denver? we could arrange a show or two for sure!

Once we finish recording I think we plan on heading out on our first tour. We need to have something to sell. We want to hit Austin, California and Denver(too bad the Orangu-Tones aren't together anymore, it would be a night of reddish orange sweaters). The problem would be distance between all those places.

Well....The TakeOffs had a big meeting about this one night after a gig at the Oki diner on Rice St. in Lihue and after all was said and done.....we decided on crotchless spandex....but the next gig we did, we wore the usual black Dewey Weber t's with jeans. I still think the spandex would draw a larger crowd but i don't know where to get that stuff here on Kauai so we'll just stick to the program. I gotta go get some chicken from Costco now so you guys let me know what you decide...ok?
Thanks and Aloha,
R-R

I will admit that I tend towards the "five-finger" comb far more often, but every now and then I like to show off the fact that I do, indeed, have opposable thumbs.
Here's a rare shot of "respecta-Bill" with Sean, the man who held down the Lava Rat bass sound until we found Rodd, at Taylor's wedding.
