Just picked up the whole set of beware the dangers of a ghost scorpion. They remind me of the ghastly ones. Terrific stuff.

Surf Mania by the Surf Teens on LP. Just a joy to spin.

Where did you get that Los Straitjackets 2x5 single?

I got it from Melanie at Spinout. I tried to order it through the LS site, but 11 spot (their online distro) was all out of them. It's a pretty cool single. Sarah's a fine singer, and the B-side is really good!

I see it's available directly from the label that released it:

What's this like, Jonpaul? I used to love the Hypnomen, but after their Watusi '99 album they left behind any surf influence in their sound.

It's a trip, literally. If I can find the time, I'd love to provide a full-on review. In the meantime, a few brief descriptions that come to mind...late 60s/70s acid-induced, nature and spiritual-inspired hippie prog psychedelic soundtrack. No surf content whatsoever. The crazy thing is, I actually really like it! WTF? Shocked

A heads-up for anyone here into British early 60's instro groups besides just the Shadows. At first glance I thought I already had too much on it but when studying the tracklist a bit closer, it turned out that I only had about half of the tracks previously. Lots of great stuff on it for any euro-instro fans.

I got this and really dig it. Some of it is a bit dated and cheezy, but a lot more of it (than I thought) more than holds up and is really great. Some very inspired playing and great melodies here. Some of these bands were incredibly tight and skilled musicians. I love it.

I have had it for some time, but just now dug it out of a pile of band related merch and opened it. The Alder Kings(Chicago) self-titled EP. Pretty good Black Sabbath and Psychobilly influenced instro. The guitarist just sent me a rough track from their upcoming EP and they have surely grown. I can't wait for the new one.

I was just thinking the same thing about your new record. I have a growing list of unreleased music I'm waiting for too; Corridor X by Kill, Baby....Kill!, plus the new Reigning Monarchs and Insect Surfers projects, and then that Alabama Garage 12". (I sure hope the last one gets released.)

And some more that's already out and waiting for my budget to recover. Sigh

Noel, I am sure that Alabama Garage 12" will be released. I am frustrated as hell with it myself. It seems to be coming down to bands delivering their tracks. I believe that when people organize these types of compilations, they should adhere pretty close to the deadline they set. If bands don't deliver, then they should have others waiting in the fold.

Or expand the project to Alabama and Tennessee Garage so we can submit a track...............LOL!
Sorry to hear that one is dragging along. Looking forward to it.

The really unfortunate thing about the Alabama Garage Comp is that due to me so heavily promoting the Kickstarter program for it, many have assumed I was responsible for the thing. I have been getting a handful of emails and Facebook messages. And they seem to be getting a bit more rude with each passing month.

Just noticed that you can "Name Your Price" for the download - I'll pay a couple bucks for it, but even if you want to just pay a quarter that's an option too.

I know you're not responsible for producing this record. And, as a band with a song on it, I'd expect you to promote it. Their delays haven't even stopped me from joining a few more campaigns since. But then I'm very enthusiastic about this music scene.
