I just got copies of The Supertones "Surf Fever 2000" and their latest release "All for a few perfect waves" in the mail straight from fellow SG101'er, supertonesurf.
They're both fantastic!

I just picked up the Aqua Velvets' "Tiki Beat". Cool songs, great guitar playing, and beautiful guitar tones. I made contact with Miles, and at this point he isn't planning on playing live in 2010. Bummer! I'd love to hear this stuff played live. Plus one on the Cadillac Hitmen (particularly "Two In the Hat"). I'd like to see them become active again. They are one of my very favorite bands. Just brought from the library the ACE records compilation Quite a Party but didn't listen yet. The last album I bought was another ACE records compilation - Rare West Coast Surf and I've been buying more 7" than albums. That was the reason I bought Rare West Coast Surf in first place - to do some research about Titan Records and that make me buy the Strangers single Caterpillar Crawl b/w Rockin Rebel. |

The Hang-Ten Hangmen I guess you could say they're in Phantom Surfers territory? Highly addictive play. Uzbekistan? |

Waiting on these two LPs to arrive: That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

Got this from Double Crown. What a great trad sounding record. Burt plays with lots of energy, and has some great surf tunes. It reminds me a bit of the Wadadli Riders' Made in Antigua. Rev —Canadian Surf |

I grabbed that too, great songs I did a little splurge a week or so ago and got The Tormentos - Death Drop I'd already heard all of those except the Nematoads album, based on the Continental's review of "If you haven't bought anything from Deep Eddy this is the one". I'm pretty sure I've bought SOMETHING from Deep Eddy before but I forgot what it was. The production needs a little punch and WAY less hi-hat but despite those it's a knock-out! Very creative, great use of brass, great energy. — |

m+TpdBLyiGNL3EQ~~_35.JPG) Not surf or instro but definitely related since it must be Terry and the Blue Jeans backing them up. Haven't got it yet but judging by the short samples I've heard, it should be totally boss with Terry's trademark guitar playing appearing to be all over it. Particularly check out "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" (track 7) on disc 1 and "Tutti Frutti" (track 10) on disc 2 for some of that: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/samples/B000GALG6G/ It's out of print and probably the most expensive CD I ever bought at $60 + shipping from Japan. Ouch. — |
