If we are indeed having the poster (t-shirts?) printed up, I would like to do a tad more work on it prior to printing.
The idea I have is to incorporate some of the characters from SG101's membership. I would put their faces in the crowd at the bottom and instead of pointing guns at Gort, they would be aiming their guitars at him.
Also, are there any more shows in So Cal that weekend that should be mentioned on it?

surfbeatnik, you could always upload the design to cafe press, like with the first sg101 t-shirt (the cover of the first comp).

Hey Duff,
I was thinking for people that did't want to go to San Diego, or Ventura,
that it would be cool if the Torquays and Outterwave and 1 more band
did a show at the doll hut or Juke joint on Fri nite.
hint hint.

Hey Jeff, I guarantee I will try to make it next year! As soon as I become millionaire I will come over there 5/6 times a year. I would never miss any fest like this.
For the moment we are trying to do this Trashmen / Chantays / Wadadli Riders / Detonators show, but not much luck with the proposals. I will post something to get some suggestions.

Unfortunately, in their pictures they, like Gort, are generally looking down.
I think you could very properly use BTD's icon. Maybe Brian's can be thoughtfully unplugging Gort's extension cord. I guess Tena would be aiming a camera. "Might as well go out shooting."

Just got the ok from my new boss for some time off - I will be going this year! Not really from out of state, though. I split my time between Oakland, CA and Las Vegas, and will be driving down from the Bay Area with a friend.
I had such a great time at the HB Pier gig last August, and this event is shaping up to be even better. I better work on my guitar chops, as the surf karaoke will provide a once in a lifetime chance for me to get up there with a real surf band!
Thanks for all of the effort in organizing this, Jeff.

cool dealeo
now just get about 50 more people to come,
I hope this isn't a bunch of work for 15 sg101ers of the 60 to show up.

I hope not, either.
I have a small group of friends that still go see the Mermen now and then that I tried to convince to make the trip south, but no go.
I have another buddy that I used to attend a lot of surf shows with in the mid-90s (ahh, San Francisco in the mid-90s - what a time!) that is still gung-ho for surf music, but the dude is now destitute, got foreclosed on and lost his house in Oakland, and now lives with his mother in Alameda. Unless I pay his way, and considering I'm not in a charitable mood after just going through an extended bout of unemployment myself, that is a no go either.
So it will most likely be just me and my woman friend making the trip down. I'm planning on sleeping over in Ventura Friday night for the Eliminators show, and will attend the main event in Hermosa on Saturday and the HB pier show on Sunday.

It's gonna be a great three days of top-notch surf music.
I haven't seen any definite info on the Eliminators show as of yet, but I'm ready to book a room for Ventura on Friday night.
Any recommendations, Stormtiger? I stayed at the Pierpont Inn many many years ago, but they are booked solid that night. Looking for something not too far from the fairgrounds.

Crown Plaza is right on the beach/bike path, Surfer's Point, and the Fairgrounds. Couldn't get any closer. There is also a Marriott about a half mile down the road.

Thanks Stormtiger - that sounds about perfect.
I'll run these by my lady friend - she makes the final decision when it comes to lodging.
I actually lived in Ventura for one year when I was about 10 years old - one of the best summers of my youth. It'll be nice to go back again, if only for a day.

The fair has not as yet given the band an exact performance time. Start time will most likely be around 8 to 9 PM. The exact time will be posted on the bands my space page when the fair decides on an exact time.

We checked out the Crown Plaza when the band played at the fair grounds last month. That would be my choice.
