Why is it so misaligned like that? Don't feel bad, I have OCD myself. Actually, perfectionism is the main OCD that plagues me.

Because I bought a Twin Reverb chassis haha. There is no chassis on the market for the showman faceplate except this one. I'll have to fill and mod the front panel. I hope to have it done by May before I get out of school.

So I have about $700 cash to blow on this build or a 6G15 reissue tank. Should I continue my build or buy the tank? I'll have some money left over to buy some parts..

I vote for continuing the build, or sidetracking and building a 6g15.

You could build a 6G15 as your first tube project for a couple hundred (most of the cost will be your transformers)and still continue with your Showman build if you're happy with the results of your work.
After I built my own 6G15 I was so happy with the results that I sold both my reissue and vintage tanks.

Well I ended up buying it. It’s a 1998 reissue. This thing is mint. Anyways I’ll be ordering some more parts here soon and continuing the build.

Good score there. And I'm happy to hear you're forging ahead with the Showman build. First time you hit a chord with that harmonic tremolo cranked you'll know it was all worth it. My god is it worth it.

I think it's rough blonde. But yes with oxblood.

Also, my classic tone 40-18004 100 watt power transformer will be here soon! Should I buy the eyelet board or the tube sockets/wires/choke/back panel parts next? Trying to go easy on how many parts/things I have going on at once, or should I buy the eyelet board for $67? Ideas, ideas..Also I turn 16 today

I don't know why that looks like smooth blonde to me. Either way, looks great!

16? Happy birthday! At 16 I didn't know a tube amp from a solid state amp, and was just happy I had a thing with strings and something that enabled it to make noise.

Yup! I bought my first tube amp a year ago March 3rd, a 73' Twin. The thing is just too heavy, so I sold it to buy that 6G15 tank. Now I'm building my first amp. After watching, reading and listening to people build them I think I'll put both feet in the water and see where I go.

Help! I'll be ordering the eyelet boards here soon and I'm super confused for the filter capacitors! Any diagram or schematic on it? I'd be kind if someone would explain it to me on how to wire it, negative side/positive side, etc.

You really need to talk to Tqi! He can walk you through that, I'm sure. I don't know where he got off to but hopefully he'll pop back in here and see what's cookin'. I'm sure he'll be intrigued that another guy is building a Showman.
Here's the page that shows his filter board:

I've looked at that forum post a thousand times haha. I've kind of figured out the board now.

The filter capacitor layout has been completed. Now I think that everything I was worried about has been solved. Triode electronics were out of the power transformers so they're sending out one Tuesday. My tube sockets, back panel things, and heater wire get here tomorrow from Hoffman Amps.

lljsullins, please be careful. I know nothing about building amps, but at least on the older ones, if you touch a certain part you can get electrocuted. It will deliver a lethal shock, and you can die. Someone more educated than me about this feel free to chime in. Not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you a heads up.

I’ve worked on a few amps in this past year. I’ve discharged caps every time when working on them! Thanks though! I’ll be careful while building this, triple checking things.
