It was on his facebook!

Jake, That's my favorite guitar.
I love pure unadulterated vintage guitars for sure and have owned many, but that copper '58 and me, feel like we can do anything.
It's actually an older Dimarzio in the bridge and a Lollar Vintage T in the neck. Never would have thought that Dimarzio would be the one but that guitar was a test bed and had SO many different pickups in it, Tele, P-90, Filtertron, Minis, Firebird, Teisco, Harmony........and that Dimarzio won out.

Potential Gibson mini humbucker in the bridge and tele neck pickup. Also, note the Derek and the Dominoes framed LP. I use to have four of those hanging on my wall. Truly and amazing record, it shows what guitar music should have been not what it has become. Music made from emotions, not from the precipice of technicality.

Hey Jeff, been meaning to say how much I appreciate your contributions to the site here. I think it's so cool that someone who makes high end guitars truly loves his Danos and Teiscos. Awesome collection.

O.T., but Jake have you seen this version of Any Day? I agree about the Derek and the Dominos LP. One of my desert island discs for sure. Derek Trucks really slays me here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiwktkw_rqE

Back to topic, my favorite surf guitar at the moment is the one I heard on the Surf Battle stream yesterday. One of those Yamahas played in the Deadbeats set. (By Zanti?) I thought his tone really stood out from all those bands.

Hey Jeff, I probably missed something here - Who is that in the picture?

I'm pretty sure it isn't you.. Big Grin

IMO.

I just finished modifying this stock Monoprice strat. I thinned the neck, weighted the vibrato block, changed pickups and added 2 more to make 5, added a pickup selector, and added flash. The tone controls cover all pickups. The white bridge PU is very surfy. The adjacent black PU is a Carvin AP11 which sounds thicker and less chimey, some say it is similar to a Mosrite PU. I lowered the gold PU to be less than half the tone when combined with the white bridge PU, giving a bridge like tone but with more bottom and smoother top.

Websurfer, I just love being here, being able to take part and hearing all these players and their music.

Preston, That's Jim from CJGuitar Tooling who makes our saddles and a Dano replacement bridge that I came up with.

Back on topic.....sorry, LOL........

Squid, That guitar looks like a blast! The square markers are fun.

Oh wow... I loved that shot of Clapton singing along. Trucks is a damn good player, there was a great moment in there where he nonchalantly played a couple notes, it was perfect because it took him no effort but so much was expressed.

Clapton was really a hell of a songwriter then. Even in the 90s he had some great output, from a songwriting point of view.

Yes, the guitar is a fun costume for the audience to enjoy. Lately I've been wearing silver mirror slacks or a jacket & slacks with silver glitter paint at gigs. These match the guitar's flash. Audiences love costumes.

Of course you can't tell by appearances, but the guitar has many fun sounds and is easy to play. At 8.0 pounds it's not heavy.

I'm gonna make everybody barf, but my fav surf guitar is a Gretsch 6120, cause that's what I've got. It's what I grew up playing 'cause it was my grampas and that was the guitar we had. She may not be a traditional surf guitar with a traditional surf sound, but I'm not really a traditional type of individual. We're a 3 piece, so to fill up space, I run her through two amps simultaneously, a Marshall JCM2000 with a home-made kill switch, and a Fender Hot Rod DeVille that's always live. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we're all broke as sh!t (we're a surf/punk band of three actual punk rock guys.. ask around Haha) ive never had the opportunity to properly catch the sound on tape (anybody wanna fund a record of 20+ killer original tunes by a genre-bending horror/surf/punk/psychobilly band who wants to do nothing but hit the road and make you a satisfied investor?! Ahem..), but live, she f#cken smokes..

Be punk and DIY, not find investors! I bet you get tattoos from professional tattoo artists as well. You ain't punk, you are just as hard as Green Day!

I'm joking, of course.

...says the long-haired scenester with a fog machine and spotlights.

It's the music that matters, we just want decent recordings of it. Were in reno county Kansas. Barring a miracle, our only way out is our music, so we need listenable recordings of it. We have no band fund because there's only one place to play here and the only scene is our friends. Any money we make goes to road shows. This ain't a ready-made easy access scene like you've got, so before you talk shit, come try doing what we are where were doing it. Until then, blow it out your ass, peter frampton.

Ps - I trade engine repair and scrap metal for my tattoos, you smug little turd.
