A follow-up to the "confession" I made earlier in the thread, just to add the pics and, well, celebrate that actually saving for something can be ok for us gearaholics.

This is my Strat. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Wes, I spent quite a few hours at Elderly Instruments yesterday while I had several of my guitars worked on. I had a lot of time to check out a bunch of different guitars, including a few different '65 AVRI Strats. I went to lunch with Tommy and Dave of the Concussions, and then hung out with them at the shop afterwards. I had Tommy try a few '65 AVRI Strats, and he was blown away, especially by the white one they had there - he couldn't believe he would ever find a new guitar that resonated as well as his real '59 Jazzmaster, and that he would like as much, but that was exactly the case with that white '65 AVRI Strat. Both Tommy and Dave tried out the '56, '59 and '65 AVRI, and they were very impressed by these guitars. (The guitar they ended up buying for the Goon Lagoon Studio was a Squier Bass VI, which played like buttah - unbelievable for such an inexpensive instrument!)
Though I also loved that white '65 AVRI Strat, personally I was seriously lusting after a Limited Edition Burgundy Mist '65 AVRI Strat Elderly had in stock, which in person was one of the most gorgeous guitar I had ever seen (doesn't seem to photograph quite as well, though), and it played like a dream. Oh, won't those infernal temptations ever end??!!!

The Oxblood Surfer/Tone Ring were actually from late 2013 now that I think about it. But everything else was 2014. A lot of it was planned purchases that had just been put off for a very long time. For a while there I made it a point NOT to look at any For Sale forums, eBay or Reverb. Like my Dad always used to tell me.. "There are always gonna be deals." Right now at least I have a few offsets that I really wanted out of the way. But I still have a strong desire to check out a few AVRI's or Custom Shop offerings.
Ivan- That gold sparkle.. Good lord. I had to wipe the drool off the keyboard.
For now though I think I need to spend more time playing than "browsing" for things I don't NEED but can't seem to pass up.. Glad to see I'm not alone though!

Too bad we're not all closer... We could swap amps and gear to get our "fix" and back again later without pulling the 'ol credit card out haha..

Ohhhhhh, I hear your cries. When I was playing those 11 sorting chaff from grain (and it was some pretty good chaff) I was hoping that the red one came out on top, after that the Burgundy Mist one like you mention, then Oly White. But it was the little things, like on a cooking show, that got them winnowed down. I agree about that Burgundy Mist color as to shooting it. Dark background and accent lighting shows it off better and, as you know, it's scrumpdillyicious in person. But that AV neck & radius - I literally do not get tired or irked like I used to. Just wow. Glad you had a good time with compadres and shopping; sounds like a blast.
I see we're official - we're now in the Gear forum, out of the shadows.

Hi Chris, yes welcome in the gearoholics club.
No you can not stop. There is a lot of space in your room. And I assume this is not the only room.
There is money, space, no brawls with your wife,… so, you are on the way to more gear…
A question to everyone: …is this thread to tell what you have bought? A few posts went to another direction than n twas meant here maybe?
…but maybe I don not understand anything correct because of my limited english...

Does a burgundy mist Jazzmaster sound better than a sunburst one? Especially with a matching head?

If the player thinks it does! Ha Ha.

Your English is fine. We share our struggles, and we share our weaknesses and our successes. Sometimes those weaknesses make noise. With lots of reverb. We support each other.

I almost forgot to post my latest moment of weakness. Early 68 BF/SF cosmetics drip edge. Didn't set me back much. Running into a 1x15 with an EV SRO. Wes has some good but simple idea's to give it more grunt.
Yeah, I know about the mess. I'm recording and experimenting with the Bandy all at the same time. It's chaos in there!

Well - since I quit smokin' for good, I can just smoke a cigarette on ocasion whenever I want. Isn't that cool ?

Since I quit smoking I can never smoke anything again (cigarette, cigar, shisha, joint, whatever...) I will be back smoking, even worse than before. Sometimes I miss it...then I buy gear to compensate.

Hey Kilain,
well - I never started smokin' - I just had to post this silly "slogan", since I find it's a nice analogy to our gear-addiction ;).
Hey AND: it's much more pleasure to buy nice gear from time to time, than to spend whole lot a money on cigarettes everyday. Ever calculated, how much i pack a day is for a year ?

Well, I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day. So I've spent ~3000.00$ just for smoking a year. Gone. Ended up in the air and trash. And just think how much gear you get for 3000.00$.
I'm looking on craigslist again, entering the usual search terms...someone please stop me!
/Edit: In the last 2 hours or so I've entered the following search terms into the german craigslist:
Echolette
Mosrite
Fender Showman
Fender Bassman
Fender Bandmaster
Fender Reverb
Fender Jaguar
Fender Jazzmaster
Yamaha G100
I feel bad now and I need a shower...
