We had yet another great night last night. Unfortunately the Cryptides were unable to perform but luckily our friends The SideBurners, a local rockabilly outfit, were able to step in and along with The Monterreys and Bruce Joyner and Atomic Clock, proceeded to melt face. I thought the mix of music was perfect and every band was just fantastic.
Next month is going to be a doozy...

Sorry I missed it but I got distracted by Sam Adams Octoberfest beer. I hope I don't have to work on the 19th.

Sorry I couldn't be there as well. I did however, survive my class reunion weekend and that has to count for something.

It looks like I'm finally going to make my maiden voyage down to Kavarna this weekend for a Southern Surf Stomp. (It's about time! I've missed a lot of great bands.)
Looking forward to the show, especially The KBK after listening to the interview with guitarist (and frequent sg101 contributor) Noah Holt on Chad Shivers' podcast (Episode 14, special Halloween edition).
Hope to see a lot you sg101ers there.

Bummed to miss this one!
Tim, enjoy your first Surf Stomp.
Chad does a great job of making sure they never disappoint.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hey everyone that'll be there, I'm almost certainly not going to make it due to work. I really am feeling this one. First, I have not yet seen Bad Friend, the bass player of which is a good bud and a really good guitar repair tech without whom my stuff would not be in the good state of repair it's in. Second, I have not seen Noah and Co. since they became The KBK, and regardless I don't like to miss them when I have an opportunity. Third and last, I'm also missing Fiend Without a Face, who I don't think play that frequently. I saw them at The 40 Watt in Athens, GA for New Years opening up for Man or Astroman? a few years ago and would love to repeat the experience in that room, which will be awesome.
Everyone take lots of pics and video and have a great time.

Richard, sorry to hear that. I kept hoping you would be able to squeeze the stomp in.

Boy WAS that one hell of a Show!
It was great to see all the regulars who defied the rain and surfed the wet streets out to Kavarna.
There really are some hardcore surf/instro fans supporting these shows in Atlanta!
Noah, thanks for making the trek. KBK was kicking major league ass. Bad Friend was over the top, and Fiend Without a Face simply blows the face off everyone in the crowd. Sticks and I were sitting in the back exchanging "how in the hell do they do that?" glances.
Chad, you are...... da man.
Best reverbs and thanks,
ed

What Ed said! I had such a fantastic time last night. I love the new tunes and look from The KBK, those guys are just working on a whole 'nother level. It was also brought to my attention that with Fiend Without a Face's performance we've had not one but TWO Grammy nominated guitarists grace the stage at our monthly event (the other being Eddie Angel). Not only were all of the bands great, but we had quite the who's who there as well. Of course Eddie, Jamie (MadScientist), Lester (formerly of Gemini XIII), Jay (The Mystery Men?), Stix Stechkin (of The Penetrators), and I was happy Tim (Silverflash) was able to make his first Stomp appearance. After the first band I was shocked to see Russell Mofsky from Gold Dust Lounge had flown up from Miami to attend the show! Then Santanu from Daikaiju rolls up. As soon as I finished with my duties at Kavarna I ended up having a drink with those fellas at the bar across the street. Dreams come true at the Southern Surf Stomp!
Up next...
Southern Ska Syndicate should prove to be a real treat as members include the aforementioned Jay, Lester, and Stix, as well as a member from El Capitan and the Band With No Name.

You can certainly say all that Chad. Job well done plus.
I got to thinking on the drive out 78 on the way home....... A split bill show with Daikaiju AND Fiend Without a Face?
Holy mackerel Batman! Georgia Power Company would have to make sure both units were on line at Plant Hatch.
