I have a set of Circle K Bass VI.098's on mine and they are perfect. Lots of (Bass)guys are going .102 and even .106's but they are way too much in my opinion for the Squire...the break across the nut, the narrow neck and standard guitar tuning gears don't really accommodate the heavier strings all that well and the tremolo doesn't move at all with those heavy strings. I am returning my .102's and sticking with the .098's.

Newest cult member here! Anybody looking to swap out their tort guard for a shiny new white guard? Would look pretty nice on an OW body - just sayin'. Also it would save me a trip to the ebay store.
Btw, mine intonates fine with stock strings/bridge, but setup and strings are pretty awful. Floppy E as expected. Flatwounds in the mail.

Congrats on becoming one with our cult!
I have thought about a white guard, but right now, my JM, Jag, and Bass VI all match! white/oly. If I do the guard, I'd have to paint the headstock...not a bad idea...

Boost, thanks for the details. How would you compare the Pyramid strings against the LaBella on the VI?

I got my LaBellas at http://www.bassstringsonline.com/
I was originally told they were out, but ended up getting a pack within the week. This was in early Feb.
Thanks man. Shame that Bassstringsonline don't list availability on the site. I got this a couple of days ago (after I already ordered a set of Flats) - 'Unfortunately we are waiting on the La Bella strings. We hope to receive them in within the next couple of weeks.'
Maybe some other set of LaBella's would be suitable?
That low E really bothers me, I'll try to find a suitable single locally until stores have them.
Has anybody tried the Circle K Strings yet?
Also, can someone please post a direct link to the correct Tusk nut? I got lost...
Yeah, I was kind of bummed basstringsonline didn't give an availability warning prior to purchasing too. Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long, otherwise it would have been an issue.
So, to anyone that knows… I'm dying to find out - does Circle K sell flatwounds???

Of course you'd have to. This itches me too. Luckily, it must be the easiest to paint part in a guitar ever. Fender decal, boom.
Grizmit congrats, enjoy! I'd swap you, but I wouldn't wanna be left pickguardless for the cross Atlantic trip duration. I'm sure someone will take it shortly, it's a win-win.
birdsandbats, thanks for your input. I ordered 2 sets, same heaviness you didn't like... exciting times.

Thanks, guys. Really happy with it. Huge value like everyone says. So I found a tort guard on OSG for $15 (Squire std. issue) so I'm set there. But still have my white one if you know anyone who wants it... $15 sounds about right.
Jake, I concidentally saw your pics on Mike's instagram feed. It's obviously in great hands... can't wait to see finished product.

Yeah! Mike is a great buddy of mine, so it is really fun to work with him on stuff. The other Mike, is my old roommate and bandmate. And Matt who works in the shop is one of my oldest and best friends. I'm really lucky to have some best friends who own a guitar shop!
They all went to my four-day birthday vacation and we all geeked out about guitars and we did massive research into the Weezer guitars they are building.

Also, we are going to darken the fretboard to be the shade of a worn brazillian rosewood. Really, more of a Martin rosewood, than what Fender used.
And we are going to wear the neck down artificially. I don't really care for the feel of new poly. I do love old poly necks, so going for something like my old '72 Jazzmaster or just make it feel like a completely worn nitro neck!
Mike might surprise me with the wiring. There may or may not be a bass cut. I told him to surprise. It is getting a treble bleed resistor mod, some bad ass cap(s), and perhaps series wiring... or several other possibilties. I left it up to him.

I'm actually debating doing mine all-white with the matching headstock to be the evil twin of Jake's
