That's great, Jake!

Great story! Elvis Costello was very important to my music upbringing. He was the first person I associated with the Jazzmaster. And the Cure is so important to me as well. What Robert Smith did with that Bass VI... oh my god... Just utterly original, amazing, game changing.

Robert Smith doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. He's actually a great guitar player, but chose to step back and do a more rhythm role about the time I stopped listening to the Cure (around 1987). He was even the guitarist for Siousxie and the Banshees for a short time. Great guitar work there, too.

Go Jake go!
The fun for money ratio on this one seems bulletproof.
I got mine (White) coming soon, Gold pickguard planned.

Awesome! You'll enjoy it, I'm sure!

Congrats to you too, sir!
Hope it comes clean, I believe it's from the 3rd batch.
We're a pretty easily satisfied bunch sometimes, aren't we? Very Happy

Yeah Thumbs Up about the Siouxie tour/album Nocturne. I was about 10 years old, they had a legendary show here in Israel then, at the peak of the smallest Goth scene in the world. Best live album of the 80's for sure.

I agree. That album was awesome! I remember going to buy it with my cousins when I moved to San Diego in the early 1980s. We went to the record store in the mall, but up in L.A. county, when I was visiting one weekend. We were blown away, and then I found the video a few years later.

Jake, that's an awesome picture of Robert Smith with the Bass VI. Just the same as mine! Wink

I'm curious as to how well these are selling, they are sold out across the board. Nobody is selling them secondhand. I think Squier has a hit, but I'm not sure the quantity of the runs...

Two VIs on this track! Listen to how awesome Robert is when he comes in. Not many musicians really command their parts so powerfully.

That's pretty friggin' awesome! It's such an awesome instrument. Hey, if there were a band that had three VI's then they'd have to call themselves 666...

I had to watch more. From the same concert:

VI-VI-VI

That'd be so rad, I'd definitely stylize it in the above fashion.

I'd like to see the Fender VI referred to as the VI, instead of the Bass VI. Bass VI encompasses so many guitars from a lot of manufacturers. The VI, or Fender VI is THE guitar.

I love that Pictures of you... the Cure absolutely killed in that era. A great band at the height of their game(in my opinion). Really '83-93 they just were killing it.

I saw Robert Smith play with the Banshees, but I'm very old!

I'm sure this has been posted here somewhere, but another dual Bass VI attack, and some damn fine footwork as a bonus.

For those looking for pickguards this guy says he has just about all materials. Just pm him

I have also used Pickguardian. He's got some nice material but I wouldsuggest you send the pg or a template of yours. Another suggestion which might be cheaper is a forum member The Gretch Pages Discussion, user name Setzer. He does excellent work but also need a template.

Yep! It's around here somewhere. Real cool song and terrific footwork. I can barely play standing still. Big Grin

Very cool. And they're both original model Fender VIs (from 1961) too, with the strat pickups, the metal surrounds and no thin switch.

Los Fantasticos

Good point, Noel. I was miserable failure at ballroom dancing. Cry

There hasn't been a new post about the VI in four hours... come on people...
