You are the guys who are making it political. Of course we love living in the USA. We're just having fun. SG101 is about fun. People give me options, I explore them. People want to put labels on me, I'm going to question those labels. —Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

Don't we all have fun with each other, here and in real life, without making fun of each other? For example, don't Strat, Jag and JM owners sometimes have at each other, all in good fun? And guitars are serious business here. IMO, the flag graphic is a great idea, and also something we can have some fun with without any political implications, or disparaging nationalities? I'm not reading any political implications into anyone's flag choice. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

As long as nobody has to put a star of David under his or her name I don’t consider it political. —The Exotic Guitar of Kahuna Kawentzmann You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy. |

Brian, are you starting to get the feeling you unwittingly stepped into a land mine? |

Shall I bite? Seriously, this site is remarkable in keeping politics/religion etc. out of the discussion. Even when those topics are lightly brushed, it's always civil and mannered with good nature/intentions. Surf music should bring us together, I believe that was Brian's idea. Matt22 wrote:

I think that the flags as Brian implemented them are a great idea. You can choose to display your national flag or not, and in any case you can enter your country of residence in the "location" field on the profile page if you don't want a flag or if you prefer a different one (Sri Lanka looks awesome!). Frankly I see nothing to complain about. I wish more people would enter their location on the member map. —Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers. |

Nice touch, Brian. Perhaps this will lead to a future Surf Guitar Olympics. Hmmm... I can't find the freak flag. — |

If Marty were on SG101 he would want to put an American flag this big next to his avatar. —Jeff(bigtikidude) |
